The first one by this team without Max Martin had been Gwen Stefani’s “Make me like you” at #6. Now they are back with a track for Selena Gomez. Her song “Hands to myself” topped my chart for only one week which is two weeks less than last years year-end #3 “The heart wants what it wants” by – you’ll definitely know and you’re right – Selena Gomez. Interesting fact is that Leslie Clio still has a chance for reaching my year-end #1. Only one song can prevent her for defending the title, but it isn’t by Satin Circus who reached last year’s #2 with “Crossroads”.

Max Mutzke – Bis es weh tut Points: 2986.5 Peak: #1 (6 weeks) Weeks: 42 Album: Fallen und fliegen Chart Debut: March 12, 2016 First week at #1: April 23, 2016 Writer(s): Götz von Sydow, Fabian Strangl, Julia Kautz, David Müller Producer(s): Götz von Sydow With the very last single by Luxuslärm the German band got the bands first #1 hit on my chart which is a collaboration with German singer Max Mutzke. “Bis es weh tut” (“Until it hurts”) is a very emotional song by them and Max Mutzke. For Max Mutzke it had been the first entrance on my chart. Only one other song (“If I knew” by Anouk) spent more weeks at the top than this song. Although I wasn’t a big fan of Luxuslärm it is sad to see them leave the stage with one of my biggest hits of 2016. I’ll definitely remember them.
1		no success	Leslie Clio – Damage done Points: 3052.8 Peak: #1 (5 weeks) Weeks: 44 Album: Eureka Chart Debut: December 15, 2015 First week at #1: January 9, 2016 Writer(s): Dimitri Tikovoi, Fiora Cutler, Leslie Clio Producer(s): Dimitri Tikovoi It had been a tougher race for #1 than in 2015 when Leslie Clio got it for the first time with her unforgotten “My heart ain’t that broken”. The last sentences of my year-end review in 2015 had been “Maybe we’ll find out that 2016 will also be her year.” Damn I was right. Not very often my prediction turns out to be correct, but this time I was right. With “Damage done” another of her breakup songs got my year-end top spot. Leslie Clio is the first artist who succeeded to defend her title. And of course it is the first time that one album (“Eureka”) is producing two year-end #1’s. This is outstanding and unbelievable. It is hard to decide if “My heart ain’t that broken” or “Damage done” is the better song. I love both songs and I hope that her next album will do as well as this one for me.

6		#54 #62 #97 #140 #61	Gwen Stefani – Make me like you Points: 2360.4 Peak: #1 (3 weeks) Weeks: 30 Album: This is what the truth feels like Chart Debut: February 20, 2016 First week at #1: April 02, 2016 Writer(s): Gwen Stefani, Justin Tranter, Julia Michaels, Mattias Larsson, Robin Frederiksson Producer(s): Mattias Larsson, Robin Frederiksson The first artist who isn’t Adele or Anouk in my Top 10 is another female singer. “Make me like you” is by Gwen Stefani who isn’t standing for success on my chart since I re-started charting back in 2011. But with this particular song I fell in love with the very first listen. In its 4th week on chart it reached my Top 10 and three weeks later it topped my chart. This song stayed for a total of 13 weeks within my Top 10 and is her first appearance within my year-end Top 10.
5		no success	Anouk – Wanna little something Points: 2360.9 Peak: #1 (4 weeks) Weeks: 22 (still charting) Album: Queen for a day Chart Debut August 6, 2016 First week at #1: August 6, 2016 Writer(s): Anouk Teeuwe, Tobias Karlsson Producer(s): Anouk Teeuwe, Tobias Karlsson Let’s do a little recap. Adele is out for the #1 spot, because her highest peak within this review is at #7. And now this is the last entry by Anouk at #5. “Wanna little something” debuted at #1 and stayed there for four weeks. It has been an amazing year for my favourite artist with several #1's and dominating with three in a row, but Anouk failed once more to reach my year-end #1 spot. So this leaves only one of my three dominating acts which is Leslie Clio who topped my year-end back in 2015. Will she top it back to back? I’ll give you the answer very soon, but not in this post.
4		no success	Transviolet – New bohemia Points: 2411.6 Peak: #1 (4 weeks) Weeks: 33 weeks Album: Transviolet EP Chart Debut December 26, 2016 First week at #1: February 13, 2016 Writer(s): Alex Reid, Sarah McTaggert Producer(s): Adrian Guvitz In 2015 the US electro pop band Transviolet had some minor hits on my chart. And then in the very last week of December they debuted with “New bohemia”. Nothing indicated that they have a song in the pocket that will be the bands breakthrough on my chart. But “New bohemia” had written hit all over it. The chart run started a little bit low at #33, but within a few weeks it reached my Top 10 where “New bohemia” stayed for nine weeks in my Top 5 including three weeks at the top. It is absolutely astonishing that this song with its positive energy never reached the international charts. The follow up singles in 2016 “LA love” and “Future” failed to chart and so it seems that this their biggest hit on my chart for years to come.

The first is a #1 song from 2015. “Hello” debuted at #1 and spent six weeks at the top in 2015. In the year-end of 2015 this song reached #34 with only nine weeks on my chart. Unfortunately Adele hasn’t been at the top in 2016, but she spent 32 weeks on my chart with this song. Due to this long activity she clawed herself a spot within my year-end Top 10.
9		#24	Anouk – Run away together Points: 2197,6 Peak: #1 (3 weeks) Weeks: 28 Album: Queen for a day Chart Debut: May 28, 2016 First week at #1: June 25, 2016 Writer(s): Anouk Teeuwe, Tobias Karlsson Producer(s): Anouk Teeuwe, Tobias Karlsson I’ve pointed out that three female singer (Leslie Clio, Adele and Anouk) have dominated the charts in 2016. While Adele already has a first Top 10 hit now it is the turn by Anouk. The first of two Top 10 appearances goes to “Run away together” which got big attention in the Netherlands when she presented this song as a duet in “The Voice of Holland”. I really enjoy this song and because it is a song by my favourite artist it is no surprise to find this song within my year-end Top 10.

I started to chart this song in May and it rose fast to my Top 2 where it was hold of the top by “Run away together” before it reached #1. This song is definitely one of the best songs in 2016 and should have done better in the international charts.

Everyone who hoped that she will place at least one song within my Top 5 is now officially disappointed and I absolutely understand it. I can’t believe that “When we where young” or any other song by her failed to entered my Top 5. Which songs are better than this song? The answer will be given in the near future. I love this song as I love the album and so it deserves to reach a spot within the Top 10.
