Week 131 – August 31st, 2013

With the last chart of August Alanis Morissette reached a 2nd week at the top with “Spiral”. She blocked Selena Gomez. Therefore “Slow down's” run ended at the runner’s up position. Austrian’s biggest hit up-to-date “I know you’ll wait for me” (#3) is completing the podium. In general the Top 10 is characterized with position changes. But there are two new songs in this section too. The first is Ricky Martin’s “Come with me” (#8). With this song he gained attention for the first time since his 1990’s smash hits “Maria” and “Livin la vida loca”, but good things take some time. The other song comes from a Korean girl band. For the first time in band history 9Muses reached the Top 10. Their hit “Wild” (#13) prevented Pink to score another Top 10 hit this week.

Looking over the spots 11 – 20 leads the attention to five more movers. While Pink’s “The truth about love” (#11) is knocking at the Top 10 Anouk’s promo track “Pretending as always” (#13) could be her first Top 10 hit this year. While “Pretending as always” climbed up 13 spots all her other charting songs climbed up too. “Kill” (#28) did a little bit better by climbing up 15 spots and “The good life” climbed up only 5 spots. Then Ellie Goulding scored her first Top 20 hit. “Burn” (#15) is really hot right now. Maybe she could do the last step next week. Also doing well are Mic Donet with “Going insane” (#18), ish feat. Stef Lang with “Rollin’ ” (#19) and The Neverdies with “Miss U” (#20).

I can’t help myself that I really like Parachute’s latest single. “Can’t help” climbed up 27 spots and is the greatest gainer of the week. This brings me as every week to the highest new entry. It is “Wings” (#59) by British singer Birdy. “Wings” is her first non-cover single and is with this debut her best placed song on my chart. Two days ago Christina Aguilera released a video for “Let there be love” which dropped off my chart in June. This week she debuts with two songs from her “Lotus” album. These songs are “Red hot kinda love” (#60) and “Army of me” (#61).

There are no bigger debuts than the mentioned. Between the highest debuts and the lower debuts there is one more debut. It is a song in Czech. Lucie Vondráčková’s dance song “Zombie” (#72) is her first chart appearance. The other debuts are “Way in the world” (#87) by Nina Nesbitt, “Tell her you love her” (#88, a single which has been released back in 2012) by Fluorescent Hearts, “Be ambitious” (#92) by Dal★Shabet, “With a word” (#94 a song from the Canadian winner of the 3rd Season of “The Voice of Holland”) by Leona, “That’s all” (#95 a Genesis cover) by Julian Perretta, “All right” (#97) by Lim Kim, “Life (diamonds in the dark)” (#98) by John Dahlbäck feat. Agnes, “Believe” (#99) by Alvin Gee feat Andre & Sandrine and “Let me go” (#100) by Hien.
