Week 189 – October 11th, 2014

The last two weeks there hasn’t been a lot of action. This week there are sixteen new entries - for the first time since week 120 - and so you can call this week a busy week. Before I’m starting with the new entries it’s time for a recap of this week's Top 10. Still a the top is Hilary Duff with her incredible “All about you”. The almost perfect chorus managed to hold off my favourite artist Anouk to grab another #1 on my chart. “Places to go” (#2) would be her 8th #1 and it is still possible. Personally I can’t wait until December when her new album will be released. New at the podium is Taylor Swift. “Shake it off” (#3) went all the way and isn’t at the end of the journey. If one of the songs in the Top 2 shows signs of weakness then it would be her turn to reach #1. In Taylor Swift’s dragrope are Fitz and the Tantrums. “Fools gold” is a wonderful song with an infectious refrain and although they managed to reach the Top 4 “Fools gold” is only an outsider for reaching #1. The Top 5 is closed by Juli with their #1 song “Insel”.

Jukebox The Ghost are still at #6 with “The great unknown”, but they are under pressure. Walk the Moon are climbing up again with their sensational “Shut up and dance” (#7). It’s only a matter of time when they reach the Top 5. Directly behind you can welcome the next Indie band. Broods are from New Zealand and they are the first New Zealand act since Brooke Fraser reached Top 10 with “Something in the water” back in 2011. “Everytime” (#8) has darker lyrics then Brooke Fraser’s mentioned hit. This and the “Oh, oh” in the chorus I really like so it seems that there is no limit for “Everytime”. Between this new song in the Top 10 and the 2nd new song in this section there is Emma’s last #1 “Ma che vita fai” (#9). For the first time as Broods Irish band The Script are reaching the Top 10. Their latest smash “Superheroes” (#10) is so far the bands best charting song on my chart.

Outside the Top 10 three or four songs are battling for maybe two spots in next week’s Top 10. First to mention is my favourite male singer Matt Cardle. His beautiful “When you were my girl” (#13) from his 3rd album “Porcelain” has everything what is needed to reach this part and he is in the best position to replace a song from the actual Top 10. Also on their way up are Maroon 5. While they had it very hard in the past it changed with their latest singles. They always reached at least the Top 20. With “Animals” (#14) they are for the first time in a position to peak better than with their previous singles “Maps” (#49) or “Love somebody”. Then there are Macy Kate with “You gave me love” (#15) and Nick Howard with “Dancing as one” (#18) who climbed up nine spots in his 2nd week on chart with this song.

The highest new entry comes from Natalia Kills. “Trouble” (#25) has been released as a regular single seven months ago, but this song didn’t got a lot of attention. As her other singles from the album of the same title and the album itself. “Trouble” flopped around the world. Fortunately I listened to this song last week on Youtube and her it is. “Trouble” directly entered my Top 30. The greatest gainer of the week comes from US band O.A.R. with “Favorite song” (#63) although the song only climbed up 13 spots. The 2nd best new entry is another song from the TV series Nashville. It’s another duet with Clare Bowen and Sam Palladio with “When the right one comes along” (#50).

Harmela Beyene, “Herz? Verloren” (#96, “Heart? Lost”) by Farin Urlaub Racing Team, “Madness” (#98) by Cascada feat. Tris, “Tokyo summer” (#99) by Mounties and “Imperfect” (#100) by Jasmine Kara.
