Week 190 – October 18th, 2014

Basically another less active week. The whole Top 5 stayed at the same spot as last week. So Hilary Duff hold Anouk off the top for a fourth week with her beautiful “All about you” (#1). Anouk announced that her upcoming album will be released by mid November. This fact didn’t help “Places to go” (#2), but I think next week could be Anouk’s week. The Top 3 is completed once more with “Shake it off” (#3) by Taylor Swift. Fitz and the Tantrums failed to enter this part with “Fools gold” (#4). “Fools gold” is a very good song, but maybe not ready for a Top 3 spot at the moment. The Top 5 is closed by former #1 “Insel” (#5) by Juli.

Walk the Moon failed to reach their first Top 5 hit by one spot with “Shut up and dance” (#6), but next week is another week to try it. Also on their way up are Broods. Last week the entered the Top 10 with “Everytime” (#7) and this week they are getting closer to the Top 5 by climbing up one spot. Between these songs and the new ones in the Top 10 is “The great unknown” (#8) by Jukebox The Ghost. As predicted Maroon 5 got another Top 10 hit. This time with “Animals” (#9) which equalized their previous peaks at #9. The other new songs comes by favourite male artist Matt Cardle. “When you were my girl” (#10) reached a spot in this part of my chart after eight weeks.

These two songs replaced The Script with “Superheroes” (#13) and Emma’s “Ma che vita fai” (#11). If you counted the weeks you will know that Emma’s drop out is a sensation this year. After 51 weeks with several songs in the Top 10 and four #1’s this is the first week without a song by Emma in the Top 10. It’s a little bit sad, but maybe one of her songs I debuted last week will enter the Top 10 in the next weeks. But let’s talk about new entries. This week sees eleven new entries and the highest came in at #37. It’s “Rooftop” by Zara Larsson. She had one Top 10 hit so far with her breakthrough “Uncover”. “Rooftop” is a typical Zara Larsson song and could do as well as “Uncover” did in the past. Also interesting is the 2nd best new entry. It’s by Lucy Hale. Her country song “Lie a little better” (#48) finally managed to enter the Top 50. “Lie a little better” is a strong song with a nice refrain.

Other debuts are “Change your mind” (#50) by Clare Bowen & Sam Palladio, “Break the rules” (#51) by Charli XCX, “Good old days” (#56), “Timebomb” (#57) and “Chaos and piss” (#74) by Pink, “Little Miss Perfect” (#82) by Nova Miller, “Twist of barbwire” (#95) by Clare Bowen, “Tired of missing you” (#96) by Isac Elliot and “Nights and stars” (#98) by Centao.
