Week 292 – October 1st, 2016

Anouk had a fresh start with three debuts in last weeks edition. Two of her songs topped the chart and two were in the pipeline. This week she proves that she is on fire. Now she is topping the chart with three songs. This had only been once before exactly five years ago on October 1st 2011 when Anouk had the chart topping triple for a first time with “What have you done” (fourth week at the top of five weeks) at the top followed by “Save me” (#1 for one week) and “Ms. Crazy” (#1 for one week). These three songs built the Top 3 for three weeks. This time her triple pack could last even longer. “If I knew” (#1) is holding the top spot for a 2nd time. Former #1 “Wanna little something” (#2 and #1 for four weeks) is still in the runner’s-up position. New at the podium is “Not a lovesong” (#3) which climbed up six spots to complete the triple. Only one artist was ready to prevent the quadruple. Selena Gomez did her best with “Sober” (#6) to hamper this event in Edition 292. It's only a pleasure deferred! Anouk’s “Be my baby” debuted outside the Top 10 and this week it rose up with a climb of six spots to complete the Top 5 with four songs by Anouk in it.

At the moment Selena Gomez is leading the “Best of the rest” with “Sober” which is the only song not by Anouk in the top part of the Top 10. The lower part is opened by Swedish singer Miriam Bryant. Her first chart topping song “Black car” (#6) dropped three spots. “Black car” is followed by another #1 hit. “F*ck apologies” (#7) by JoJo feat. Wiz Khalifa also dropped three spots. And for a third “Love somebody” (#8) by Aura Dione dropped three positions. “Love somebody” isn’t the last three spots dropper in this part. “Facciamola più semplice” (#10, “Make it easier”) did the same and is now rounding out the Top 10. Caught between these droppers is the only new song in the lower section. German singer Nicole Cross is performing well with her first single “Awesome” (#15). In its third week on chart “Awesome” climbed up six spots.

Last week is surely an exception as regards the number of high debuts. So don’t be disappointed with this week’s highest debut which can be found outside the Top 30. It is by former Spice Girl Melanie C. Over the last years she had rarely released new music. Back in 2013 she reached the Top 10 with her Matt Cardle duet “Loving you” (peaked at #9). This is her only significant success on my chart since re-starting. “Anymore” (#38) outperformed all of her other charting songs and is ready for a much higher peak. The only other debut within the Top 50 is by Maty Noyes. She is best known for singing on the Kygo track “Stay” which had been a Top 10 hit in the UK. Now she released her debut solo single. “In my mind” (#50) performed solid and so she earns her first Top 50 hit on my chart.
