Week 294 – October 15th, 2016

How should I describe this week’s edition with one word? Let’s take stability. Anouk’s chart domination position is carved in stone. Since several weeks she is topping my chart. First with “Wanna little something” (#2) and now with “If I knew” (#1). “If I knew” is maybe the saddest song ever topping my chart. Last week the husband of a college died after a capital operation and Anouk’s song got an emotional boost. Anouk’s triple at the top is complete with “Not a lovesong” (#3). For a third week in a row Selana Gomez is caught between Anouk with “Sober” (#4). The fourth Anouk hit in the Top 5 is “Be my baby” (#5). By the way I’ve listened to Anouk’s promotional single and her 1st official single for her upcoming album. In my eyes these songs are far away from her “Queen for a day” standards. When I thought that she had found the turnaround with this album she is now going two steps back with her upcoming one. Although I hope the rest of the songs of this album will be better. Therefore I decided not to chart the songs from “Fake it till we die” until the last song of her nearly perfect album “Queen for a day” charted.

The 2nd part of my Top 10 is Anouk free. German singer Nicole Cross is opening this part with her super awesome song “Awesome” (#6). This song would be definitely a hymn for all the girls who have dated Barney Stinson. I loved this series. Next in line is Miriam Bryant. Her former #1 “Black car” (#7) dropped one spot while the other former #1 “F*ck apologies” (#8) by JoJo feat. Wiz Khalifa was stable. New in this part is Tove Lo. Her first single “Cool girl” (#9) from her 2nd album “Lady wood” climbed up four spots. The Top 10 is rounded out with Cam’s “Untamed” (#10).

Eleven songs got their debut. The highest debut is by Carly Rae Jepsen. The first single from “Emotion Side B” is “First time” (#74). The song debuted outside the Top 70, but I’m sure that this song will enter the Top 50 in a very short time. The 2nd highest debut is by Australian singer Delta Goodrem over the years she had some success with her singles, but none of the songs I charted since 2011 did as well as “Lost without you” which was a hit in Austria back in 2004. This week her latest single “The river” (#84) made its debut.

Other debuts are “Laufen” (#87, “Run”) and “1973” (#94) by Tagtraeumer, “Secrets” (#88) by Wild Wild Horses, “Keep dreaming” (#89) by Hedegaard feat. Stine Bramsen, “Fool’s paradise” (#90) by XYLØ, “When we were lovers” (#95) by Jack Savoretti, “For her” (#96) by Chris Lane, “Rebound” (#97) by Drew Baldridge and “Get out” (#99) by AOA which had been released back in 2012 as a regular single.
