Week 312 – February 18th, 2017

After an eight week break Anouk is back at the top of my chart. Her latest #1 song is “Right on time” (#1) which climbed up two spots. “Right on time” is her 15th #1 on my chart and when I say Anouk is topping the chart I’ve to point out that she leading with two songs. “Keeps getting better” (#2) also climbed up two spots and is now in the runner’s up position. These are the first two of five songs by Anouk in my Top 10 which is by the way another record by her. The podium completing is last week’s #1 “Remedy” (#3) by Adele who placed two songs in my Top 10. This means that seven of ten songs in my Top 10 are by Anouk and Adele. Two spots down, but still in the Top 5 is “Alcohol” (#4) by Shannon LaBrie. And finally “Million reasons” (#5) by Lady Gaga made it into the Top 5.

“River Lea” (#6) by Adele climbed up one spot, but just missed the Top 5. The only song by a male interpret in my Top 10 dropped two spots. Therefore “Talk too much” by Coin can be found at #7. The Top 10 is rounded out with an Anouk triple. “Castle in the air” (#8) climbed up two spots. Also up two spots is “We are” (#9), but fot this song it is the first week within the Top 10. Last but not least in this triple is “If I knew” (#10). The former #1 is eventually in its last week in this part of my chart.

Outside the Top 10 several songs brought themselves in a good position to enter this part in the next weeks. Scavenger Hunt’s “Sweet talk” (#12) is maybe the favourite for a Top 10 spot, but not far behind are Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of you” (#14) and Little Hours’ “Water” (#15). I hope that these last two mentioned songs enter my Top 10 to lift up the male singer rate in my Top 10 to a new level. There are more songs than these three songs I just mentioned which have some chances to enter the Top 10. Another one is the greatest gainer of the week. It is by the alternative rock band The Revivalists. Although founded in 2007 I’ve not heard about them until their release of “Wish I knew you” (#28).

About four months ago Austrian band Tagtraeumer released a non-album single. I wasn’t sure about charting this song before I charted the last song from their album “Alles OK” because this song didn’t got any airplay. Last week I debuted the last songs from “Alles OK” and so I decided to finally chart “Aus Gold” (#47, “Of gold”) which is now the highest debut in this edition.

“Aus Gold” is the only new entry within my Top 50. The next best new entry is by DJ from the Netherlands. Bakermat had one big hit with the remix of “One day” back in 2013 which is for me one of the worst songs of that year. Since these days he had some minor hits in his home country, but with his new one “Baby” (#53) he could have a big hit in his pocket. I really like this song and it could enter my Top 20 in the future.
