Week 350 – November 11th, 2017

After two weeks at the top “Love so soft” (#4) by Kelly Clarkson dropped three spots so that this song is now outside the podium. Kelly Clarkson was replaced by Kate Voegele. Her latest smash “Catch me on fire” (#1) is her 2nd #1 this year after “Don’t count me out” (#48) reached its peak in August. Kate Voegele is followed by one of the surprising male artists this year. British singer-songwriter Luke Sital-Singh climbed up one spot with his 2014 single “21st century heartbeat” (#2). For him this song could also be his 2nd #1 this year and overall. The podium completing is Taylor Swift. While her new one is debuting outside the Top 50 “…Ready for it?” (#3) climbed up two spots. She is also in the position to score her 2nd #1 this year. Rounding out the Top 5 are Cold War Kids feat. Bishop Briggs with their one and only #1 “So tied up” (#5).

The next part of my Top 10 is opened with another song by Kate Voegele. “Sun will rise” (#8) rose two spots and is now knocking at the door to my Top 5. She is followed by Taylor Swift. Her former #1 “Look what you made me do” (#7) dropped one spot, but is still in a comfortable position for a future Top 10 run. Up two spots is Ed Sheeran who – I can only repeat myself – had one #1 this year with “Shape of you”. “Perfect” (#8) is doing well, but I don’t see this song as a future #1, because of the fact that this song is in its eight charting week. Also up two spots is former One Direction member Niall Horan. With his 2nd charting song “Too much to ask” (#9) he reached the first time this part of my chart. The Top 10 is closed by another male artist. Luke Sital-Singh dropped three spots with “We don’t belong” (#10).

This week’s greatest gainer is Aurea’s “I feel love inside” (#43) after a 17 spot climb in its sixth week. Just inside the Top 50 “Achterbahn” (#50, “Rollercoaster”) by German schlager singer Helene Fischer got its debut. It is her 2nd Top 50 hit this year. Earlier this year she reached the Top 20 with “Nur mit dir” (“Only with you”, peak at #12). Although I don’t really like this particular genre Helene Fischer has now scored several hits over the years, but she just failed to reach my Top 10 so far. Maybe “Achterbahn” is the particular one which could change this. As she is the biggest star of this genre in Germany at the moment it would definitely surprise no one if she would enter my Top 10 in the future.

One spot behind “Achterbahn” there is the 2nd highest debut. This is a song by Italian pop singer Annalisa. She has now five charting songs with “Direzione la vita” (#51, “Direction of life”). Her biggest hit had been “Dimenticare (mai)” (“Forget (never)”, peak at 29) back in 2015. Main artist had been Raige, because she was only featured. This time she could do well as a solo artist. I really like “Direzione la vita” which is – maybe I can say this at this point – my favourite song from her. This song has everything the Emma songs have and she had scored several Top 10 hits and #1’s. For this week Annalisa failed to reach a Top 50 spot, but within next weeks she should reach my Top 20. I’m not a the end with Italian songs. This time it is a song by Austrian indie rock band Wanda. Last week they finally debuted with their recent Austrian #1 “Columbo” (#40). I debuted this song very late so that this week the follow up single “Lascia mi fare” (#52, “Let me do it”) got its debut. While the song title is in Italian the song is in German. It is a good song and I’m really excited to see how this double pack will perform over the next weeks.

Florida Georgia Line, “That’s what I’m talking about” (#90) by Missy Lancaster, “Heaven” (#91) by Kane Brown, “Mir laungts” (#92, “I’ve had enough”), “Sway” (#97) by Danielle Bradberry and “Wild child” (#99) by Freedom Fry.
