Week 351 – November 18th, 2017

2017 will be the year where I’ve not decided which song I really like. Nearly every week my top song is changing and so this week is no exception. After only one week at the top Kate Voegele had to leave with her super catchy “Catch me on fire” (#2). She was replaced by British singer-songwriter Luke Sital-Singh. His wonderful song “21st century heartbeat” (#1) from his 2014 debut album finally reached #1 in its 11th week on chart. So far this is his 2nd #1 this year and probably the last one from this album, because all the other songs from it are out or on their way out of my chart. Still at #3 is Taylor Swift with “…Ready for it?”. I’m actually not ready for bringing this song to #1, but who knows what I’ll do next week. Up two spots is Kate Voegele with “Sun will rise” (#4). Therefor she has now two songs from her album “Canyonlands” in my Top 5. After slipping down three spots last week this week “Love so soft” (#5) by Kelly Clarkson only dropped one spot.

For the first time since weeks US band Cold War Kids aren’t in my Top 5. Their duet with Bishop Briggs dropped one spot and so “So tied up” (#6) is now one spot behind my Top 5. Also the 2nd Taylor Swift song in my Top 10 is holding its spot. “Look what you made me do” (#7) is still a good song, but I don’t think that this song will be in my Top 10 for a record breaking time. Directly behind are Austrian Tagtraeumer. Their new single “Pfeile” (#8, “Arrows”) reached the Top 10 spot after a seven spot climb. Back in the Top 10 is also Pink with “Beautiful trauma” (#10). It’s her 2nd Top 10 hit this year. Caught between these newcomer’s to my Top 10 is Niall Horan with “Too much to ask” (#9).

This week Norma Jean Martine’s “I will never love again” (#40) is the greatest gainer of the week. This song climbed up 13 spots in its 5th week on chart. While this song just reached my Top 40 the highest debut just reached the Top 60. Some weeks ago the debut song “Bout you” by Xuitcasecity dropped out. This week they return with their next one. “Where do we go” (#60) is another song where they mix pop music with rap. In a manner their songs remind me of the 1990’s. In these days Eurodance was a very popular genre and dance music was mixed with rap. Although their songs can’t classified as Eurodance I really appreciate their mix of genres. “Where do we go” got a solid start and I hope that this particular song would reach a good peak.

Xuitcasecity are followed by three more new entries. The next one is by German rock singer Jennifer Rostock. This time she returns with her song “Haarspray” (#61, “Hairspray”). It’s a typical song from her and her band, but I doubt that this song will ever reach my #1 as “Ich kann nicht mehr” (#I can’t anymore”) did back in 2012. Next in line are two country songs from artists I’ve not heard before. They highest one is by US singer Brandon Lay. His song “Speakers bleachers and preachers” (#61) is catchy and got a very solid debut for a newcomer. They other new artist is a JJ Shiplett. He has toured for many years and earlier this year he finally released his debut album “Something to believe in”. Now his first single “Darling, let’s go out tonight” (#62) out of this album got is debut. Beside the song itself I really like JJ Shiplett’s remarkable voice.

Other debuts are “Sad games” (#74) and “Riot” (#75) by Leslie Clio, “Wolves” (#80) by Selena Gomez & Marshmello, “Dancing in the daylight” (#84) by Scouting For Girls, “For what it’s worth” (#85) by Liam Gallagher, “Out of the blue” (#86) by Chad Brownlee, “Til tomorrow” (#87) by Walker McGuire, “Won’t forget you” (#92) by Pixie Lott feat. Stylo G, “All on me” (#93) by Devin Dawson, “Gimme the beat” (#94) by Jody Direen, “Liebe auf Repeat” (#97, “Love on repeat”) by Laurenz, “Truth is” (#98) by Ashla Taylor, “Herz an” (#99, “Heart on”) by Beatrice Egli.
