Week 352 – November 25th, 2017

The “21st century heartbeat” (#1) isn’t really a typical #1 on my chart, but nevertheless I like this song so much that Luke Sital-Singh got his 2nd #1. With this week “21st century heartbeat” got a 2nd week at the top and so this song outperforms “Greatest lovers”. He is followed by a Kate Voegele double pack from her “Canyonlands” album. Former #1 “Catch me on fire” (#2) is holding its spot while “Sun will rise” (#3) climbed up one spot to complete the podium. “Sun will rise” changed the spot with Taylor Swift’s “…Ready for it?” (#4) which is now officially out of the #1 race. New in my Top 5 is “Pfeile” (#5, “Arrows”) by Austrian band Tagtraeumer with a three spot climb. This song is one of the freshest new sounds in my Top 10 and so chance is high to see this song at #1 at anytime soon.

Up four spots is “Beautiful trauma” (#6) by Pink. Until now this song failed to get big radio airplay, but on my chart this song is on the way to outperform the albums lead single “What about us” (#35) which peaked at #5. Next in line are two former #1’s. First to mention is Kelly Clarkson’s “Love so soft” (#7) which dropped two spot. The other one is “So tied up” (#8) by Cold War Kids feat. Bishop Briggs which also dropped two spots, but this song is in its 18th week on chart. Only three songs have a longer chart run at the moment which are “Straßenlaternen” (#30, “Street lights”) by Tagtraeumer with 19 weeks, “Still in love with you” (#56) by Norma Jean Martine with 22 weeks and “Killer” (#55) by Aurea with 23 weeks. These former #1’s are followed by the only new song in my Top 10. It is a cover of the Martin Garrix & Troye Sivan song “There for you” which I never charted. The acoustic version of the Belgian singer OT is now in at #9. It happens not very often that I prefer a cover over the original songs, but this song is one of the exceptions. The Top 10 is rounded out with Taylor Swift’s “Look what you made me do” (#10).

11 new songs found their way on my chart, but none of these songs had a Top 50 debut. The highest debut is by British singer Bishop Briggs who recently had a #1 as featured act on the Cold War Kids song “So tied up”. “Dream” (#63) is her solo chart debut. “Dream” is a decent song, but as always at the start of the chart run it is hard to predict where this song will end. At the moment I’ll say it will reach my Top 40, but it is also possible that this song will go higher, because most of my top songs actually have charted more than 10 weeks and are growing old. Bishop Briggs is followed by veteran artist Bryan Adams. Over the years he gave us hits like “Summer of ‘69”, “Everything I do”, “Please forgive me” and many more. Since the end of the 1990’s the output of big hits dropped, but for the first time in years he got my attention with “Please stay” (#64). I really appreciate this song which could do very well on my chart which saw several slow ballads in my Top 10 over the last weeks. I hope that this song marks a great return for Bryan Adams.
