”Can’t stop, won’t stop moving, it’s like I got this music in my mind” so I just shake off the old stuff I listened before. These lines from Taylor Swift’s former #1 “Shake it off” describe best what happened this week. After several weeks with a very low amount of new entries this week I broke the record for the most ones which occurred back in weeks 219 and 281 with 20 new entries. This week there are 23 new songs in my Top 100, but none of these songs debuted within the Top 30. Nevertheless let’s welcome the new music and thank the others for accompanying me over the last weeks.
This earthquake didn’t reach the top spot of my chart, so I’ve the same #1 as last week. Kate Voegele defended the title with “Shoot this arrow” (#1). She should stay at the top for at least one more week before Luke Sital-Singh take over with one of his two actual Top 10 hits. Kate Voegele is followed by Bishop Briggs and her beautiful song “Dream” (#2). German rock “Haarspray” (#3, “Hair spray”) by Jennifer Rostock continues its run in my Top 3. And still just outside this part is “Chasing this” (#4) by MisterWives. Up three spots into my Top 5 is “Still” (#5) by Luke Sital-Singh.
The 2nd half of my Top 10 is opened with “Pfeile” (#6) by Tagtraeumer which had topped the chart for four weeks. Next in line is the other Luke Sital-Singh song “Killing me” (#7) which also rose up three spots. Then there is former #1 “Beautiful trauma” (#8) by Pink. And finally one new song reached the Top 10. “Bad bad drug” (#9) is Kate Voegele's 2nd song this week’s Top 10 and it had been part of last week’s greatest gainer of the week songs. The Top 10 is rounded out with “Perfect” (#10) by Selena Gomez.
Before I write something about this week’s new entries I’ve to point out that I absolutely fell in love with the new song by Kylie Minogue. Overlooked for a very short time “Dancing” (#17) sprinted up the chart with a climb of 34 spots and so “Dancing” is this week’s greatest gainer. “Dancing” is also the one song which you could expect in next week’s Top 10.
Back in November 2017 Norwegian singer Sigrid released her single “Strangers” (#33). Until last week I didn’t pay much attention to this song, but German TV station “VOX” used it to promote their new program so this song got into my mind and it is sticking around there. “Strangers” is a nice song and I’m really interested to see where this song will end on my chart. “Strangers” is the first of a bunch of new songs in my Top 50. The 2nd highest debut is by German producer Zedd. His new single “The middle” (#34) features Country singer Maren Morris who is leaving the country roots for this song to join the EDM trend of the last years. For her it is a chance to bust the country boarders, but I’m not sure what to expect from her follow up album. For now I only could say that I like “The middle” and that this song is definitely a song for my Top 20 at least.
Five more songs are debuting within my Top 50. The next one is from the soundtrack of “Fifty shades freed”. While “Love me like you do” by Ellie Goulding from the first part of “Fifty shades” peaked at #3 in 2015 the follow up lead single “I don’t wanna live forever” by Zayn & Taylor Swift from the second part failed to reach my chart. For a time it looked like that the lead single from the third part also would never reach my chart, but this week “For you” (#36) by Liam Payne & Rita Ora got its debut. “For you” isn’t the only debut out of the soundtrack to this film. The other one is “Capital letters” (#61) by Hailee Steinfeld & BloodPop®. “For you” is followed by the debut of “These days” (#37) by Rudimental feat. Jess Glynne, Macklemore & Dan Caplan. They have in common that they are hardly represented on my chart, but with “These days” in their pocket they should reach my Top 20 at least. For the first time in my Top 100 is Mimoza. “Big girls cry” (#38) got a solid debut. Also debuting for the first time on my chart is US singer Noah Kahan. For his EP “Hurt somebody” he teamed up with Julia Michaels. Their duet version “Hurt somebody” (#40) brought them for the first time in history into my Top 40. Just outside the Top 40 Hayley Kiyoko debuted with “Curious” (#44).
Other debuts are “Prémonition” (#66, “Premonition”) by Cœur de Pirate, “Stranger things” (#67) by Kygo feat. OneRepublic, “Moonlight” (#68) and “So much more than this” (#86) by Grace VanderWaal, “Savior” (#69) by Iggy Azalea feat. Quavo, “Cautious” (#70) by Tyler Shaw, “Give it everything you got” (#71) by Beth Hart & Joe Bonamassa, “Us” (#72) by Jennifer Lopez, “Someone to you” (#88) by Banners, “Sorry” (#89) by Halsey, “Sober up” (#90) by AJR feat. River Cuomo, “Casanova” (#91) by Allie X feat. Vérité, “Saint” (#92) by Vérité, “Ta marinière” (#93, “Your stripped sweater”) by Hoshi and “We’re going home” (#100) by Vance Joy.
