Week 364 – February 17th, 2018

Last week brought more than 20 debuts. This week things slowed down a little bit, but there are still several debuts and except one spot my Top 10 is totally changed. The non-mover in my Top 10 is last week’s #1. Kate Voegele is sitting on the top of my chart for a third week with “Shoot this arrow” (#1). It’s definitely a song worth listening and not her only song in this week’s Top 10. “Shoot this arrow” is followed by a Luke Sital-Singh double pack. “Still” (#2) and “Killing me” (#3) are new in my Top 3 and these songs are on their way up to #1. One of these songs could by his third #1 on my chart. Most of the time “Still” had been my favourite of these songs, but there is still a chance that “Killing me” will outperform “Still” by next week. Close behind is the other Kate Voegele song in my Top 5. “Bad bad drug” (#4) climbed up five spots to reach this notable spot. For the first time in my Top 5 with her first Top 10 hit is Kylie Minogue. “Dancing” (#5) is sprinting up my chart and it is absolutely ready for reaching #1. “Dancing” is the first song by Kylie Minogue since her 1990’s classics “Can’t get you out of my head” and “Spinning around” which I couldn’t get out of my head.

The 2nd half of my Top 10 is opened songs from last week’s Top 3. Bishop Briggs is dropping four spots with her former #1 “Dream” (#6). Also down four spots is German rock by Jennifer Rostock. Their song “Haarspray” (#7, “Hair spray”) is still good, but failed to bring her up to #1 for the first time in years. The last but not least four spot dropper in my Top 10 is “Chasing this” (#8) by MisterWives. The downwards trend is continued by Tagtraeumer’s “Pfeile” (#9, “Arrows”) and Pink’s “Beautiful trauma” (#10).

While Tagtraeumer’s Top 10 run with “Pfeile” is near its end their new album cut “Alles sind wir” (#17, “Everything are we”) is this week’s greatest gainer. “Alles sind wir” climbed up 15 spots to reach a Top 20 notch. Generally there is only one song beside “Alles sind wir” in my Top 20 which could end in next week’s Top 10. This song is “Crooked road” (#11) by Kate Voegele which is another album cut from “Canyonlands”. Let’s start now with a short review of this week’s top debuts. The highest debuts are album cuts from “LA Devine” by Cold War Kids. “Ordinary idol” (#64) as well as “Luck down” (#65) should perform very well on my chart with reaching a Top 20 spot in a few weeks. For the highest single debut you have the look further down. It is by British singer Anne-Marie who recently had a small hit with “Heavy”. This week she returns with the follow up “Then” (#78).

Other debuts are “Don’t make me wait” (#84) by Sting & Shaggy, “Wild card” (#94) by Lennon Stella, “Look like you know” (#95) by Royal Blood, “Hole in the world” (#98) by Hayden Panettiere, “High Hopes” (#99) by Yours Truly.
