Cold War Kids feat. Bishop Briggs – So tied up

Points: 2066.6
Peak: #1 (4 weeks)
Weeks: 22 (still charting)
Album: LA Devine
Chart Debut: July 29, 2017
First week at #1: September 30, 2017
Writer(s): Nathan Willett, Lars Stalfors
Producer(s): Lars Stalfors

Since their album “Hold my home” US indie rocker Cold War Kids are on my radar and have become one of the most successful bands on my chart. In 2017 they reached #1 for the first time with “Can we hang on?” and later that year they reached #1 for a 2nd time with “So tied up” where they teamed up with British singer Bishop Briggs. For Bishop Briggs “So tied up” had been her first #1 on my chart with her first chart appearance. This song had a slow start with a debut just inside the Top 50, but due to strong climbs it reached #1 in September where it stayed for four weeks. This is the optimum number of weeks at the top which only one other song equalized. I love this duet which is one of the best duets since “Just give me a reason” by Pink feat. Nate Ruess.

Anouk – If I knew

Points: 2148.6
Peak: #1 (8 weeks; none in 2017)
Weeks: 52
Album: Queen for a day
Chart Debut: September 24, 2016
First week at #1: September 24, 2016
Writer(s): Shelly Peiken, Anouk Teeuwe
Producer(s): Anouk Teeuwe, Nalle Karlsson

What should I say? Once more Anouk missed my year-end #1. This time it is “If I knew” which outperformed nearly every other song. A year ago “If I knew” reached #18 and now it climbed up all the way to #2 without reaching #1 in 2017. This is absolutely amazing. “Queen for a day” is the best Anouk album since years and “If I knew” is definitely her best song since I re-started charting back in 2011. (Wow is this now really seven years ago?) This song is maybe the saddest song at the top of my chart ever! I love how Anouk deals here with the deep emotional song and I hope that she would release something like this album in the future, because “Fake it till we die” is a little disappointment after this great album.
1 #80
Wincent Weiss – Nu rein Herzschlag entfernt („Only a heartbeat away“)

Points: 2192.8
Peak: #1 (4 weeks)
Weeks: 25
Album: Irgendwas gegen die Stille
Chart Debut: April 22, 2017
First week at #1: May 13, 2017
Writer(s): Sera Finale, Kevin Zaremba, Fabian Strangl, Wincent Weiss, Sascha Wernicke
Producer(s): Kevin Zaremba

All good things are worth waiting for. For the first time in history I’ve a German language year-end #1. Once I had a year-end #1 in Italian language by Emma with “L’amore non me basta” (“Love isn’t enough”) back in 2014. In 2017 German newcomer Wincent Weiss reached the summit with his first chart appearance and he could lead the chart for a total of four weeks. “Nur einen Herzschlag entfernt” is a great love song about a long distance romance. I never thought that I would end up with such a German pop song at the top, but I love this song and nothing else matters.
