Week 384 – July 7th, 2018

For a 2nd time in her career Norma Jean Martine took over my chart. “Angels on my shoulders” (#1) isn’t really an optimistic view of the world, but I like this song and so it deserves to be #1 for at least one week. Last week’s top song “Not the only one” (#2) by Kate Voegele dropped one spot. The podium is completed by Kylie Minogue with her wonderful “Stop me from falling” (#3) in its 17th week. The 2nd Norma Jean Martine song in my Top 5 is “When we were young” (#6) which climbed up two songs. It is the first Top 5 hit for US DJ’s Lost Kings. Down one spot is “Together” (#5, “Zusammen”) by Die Fantastischen Vier feat. Clueso.

Up three spots is Austrian star Andreas Gabalier. With his first charting hit “Verdammt lang her” (#6, “Damn long ago”) he is heavily knocking at the door to my Top 5. This song is followed by the first of two new songs in my Top 10. “I said hi” (#7) is the first Top 10 hit for Australian singer Amy Shark. Caught between these two new songs is “Your side of the bed” (#8) by Loote. The other new song in my Top 10 is “Don’t go breaking my heart” (#9) by Backstreet Boys. It is their 2nd Top 10 since I began charting again in 2011. Maybe in it’s last week in my Top 10 is “We can do better” (#10) by Matt Simons.

The greatest gainer for a third week in a row is “I did something bad” (#12) by Taylor Swift. This week this song definitely outperformed her other charting hit “Don’t blame me” (#16) which did also well. So let’s go to this week’s highest debut. It is the new single by Kelly Clarkson. “Heat” (#62) got a solid debut just before the other debut “Whole lotta woman” (#63) by Kelly Clarkson. Other debuts are “Going going gone” (#92) by Maddie Poppe, “Borderline” (#94) by Madeline Juno, “Weg von mir” (#96, “Away from me”), “I know how to make a boy cry” (#97), “DDU-DU DDU-DU” (#99) by Blackpink and “Latata” (#100) by G(I)-DLE.
