Week 386 – July 21st, 2018

It lasted only one week that Kate Voegele returned to the #1 spot with “Not the only one” (#3). This week she was outperformed by Taylor Swift’s album cut “I did something bad” (#1) which is her first #1 this year and her 5th overall. Caught between these two songs is Norma Jean Martine with “Angels on my shoulders” (#2). Knocking at the podium is Austrian star Andreas Gabalier. With his first charting hit “Verdammt lang her” (#4, “Damn long ago”) he scored his first Top 5 hit after a two spot climb. Up three spots are 90’s boy band Backstreet Boy. Their recent hit “Don#t go breaking my heart” (#5) isn’t a big hit as their songs back in the 90’s, but for me this song works and it could do better next week.

The 2nd half of my Top 10 is opened by former #1 “Stop me from falling” (#6) by Kylie Minogue. This song is 19 weeks on chart and has spent six at the top, but now the signs are for a Top 10 dropout. Directly behind is Australian singer Amy Shark with “I said hi” (#7). Then there is Italian Annalisa. The single and title track of her last album “Bye bye” (#8) climbed up two spots. Down five spots is another hit by Norma Jean Martine and Lost Kings. “When we were young” (#9) is maybe out of my Top 10 by next week, but it could also be that she returns with another song where she is featured. The only new song in my Top 10 is another album cut by Taylor Swift. “Don’t blame me” (#10) did this last step with a two spot climb.

On her way up the chart is Kelly Clarkson with her latest single “Heat”. This week it climbed up 21 spots and so it is the greatest gainer of the week. For new entries you once more have to look down the chart. The highest debuts are the last but not least two album cuts from Anouk’s album “Fake it till we die”. Unfortunately this album doesn’t met my expectations and so don’t expect much. Her new songs are “Brothers & sisters” (#71) and “My man” (#72). Other debuts are “Bad liar” (#92) by Krewella, “About you” (#97) by Tyron Hapi & Laurell, “Cali” (#98) by Moismann, “Mariposas” (#99, “Butterflies”) by Paty Cantú and “No me acuerdo” (#100, “I don’t remember”) by Thalía feat. Natti Natasha.
