Week 467 – February 8th, 2020

Finally Alanis Morissette did the last step with her single “Reasons I drink” (#1). She replaced “Blinding lights” (#2) by The Weeknd which topped the chart for six weeks. Holding its spot is “Before you go” (#3) by Lewis Capaldi. As I pointed out last week it is likely that this song will take over anytime soon. Also non-moving is “Lose you to love me” (#4) by Selena Gomez. For the first time in history the same song interpreted by two artists can be found within the Top 5. This happens because of the fact that Kina Grannis’ version climbed up two spots to #5.

Now falling out of the Top 5 is “French” (#6) by Kate Voegele. I like this song but for me it isn’t her best work. Also down one spot is “Malibu nights” (#7) by LANY. Still sailing on the wave of success is Spanish singer Maria Parrado. Last week she debuted in the Top 10 with her song “Si me dejas” (#8, “If you leave me”). This song climbed up two spots in this week’s edition. This week she debuts in this part of the chart with her song “No creo en nada” (#10, “I don’t believe in anything”). Caught between these two songs is “Love you anyway” (#9) by Pink feat. Chris Stapleton.

The greatest gainer of the week is “Enamórate de alguien más” (#62, “Fall in love with someone else” by Morat. For him this is his first chart appearance and it is still a long way to go to reach a notable spot. And now to the highest debut of the week which is a song by British singer Dua Lipa. Over the last year’s she had only minor success but with the release of her single “Physical” (#41) everything could change. Sure this song missed the Top 40 by one spot but “Physical” should climb up the chart fast. Directly behind the every emotional single “Anyone” (#42) by Demi Lovato debuts. I really appreciate that she shares this song with the audience and for me this will be another hit by her.
