Week 489 – July 11th, 2020

Finally this weird school year is over. Teaching from home was definitely interesting, but nothing I would like to do on a regular basis. I’m celebrating the end of the school year with a new #1. After six weeks at the top Anouk had to leave the top spot. Stepping in is Italian singer Emma with her regular single “Luci blu” (#1, “Blue lights”). Also up one spot and completing the double pack at the top of the chart is “Quando l'amore finisce” (#2, “When love ends”) also by Emma. This means that Anouk’s “I love you” (#3) dropped two spots. New in the Top 5 is the third song by Emma. Her song “Alibi” (#4) climbed up two spots. This isn’t the only new song in the Top 5. The other one is “Übermorgen” (#5, “The day after tomorrow”) by German singer Mark Forster.

After two weeks “I dare you” (#6) by Kelly Clarkson had to leave the Top 5. Next in line is “Ein letztes Mal” (#7, “One last time”) by Elif. Dropping a little bit faster than expected is “Diagnosis” (#8) by Alanis Morissette. I believe that this 4 spot drop means that this song won’t be found in the Top 10 by next week. Up one spot is “Somebody” (#9) by Dagny. For the first time in the Top 10 is Swedish singer Winona Oak. Her song “Oxygen” (#10) with Robin Schulz climbed up three spots.

21 spots up is “The love isn’t crazy” (#27) by Carly Rae Jepsen. For this she is awarded with the greatest gainer of the week. Honestly I hadn’t this song in my mind, but “Sad song” (#21) by Liam Gallagher “only” climbed up 20 spots and so this song failed by one spot to get awarded. The highest debut goes to US band LANY. Last week they debuted with their single “Good guys” (#81). This week they released the next single. “If this is the last time” (#68) did better than “Good guys” and definitely deserves to be the highest debut. I absolutely love this homage to family and I’m sure that “If this is the last time” will end up in the Top 10. All other debuts are from South Korea. Over the last week I finally had time to listen to the releases I hadn’t time to listen during this weird school year and so you also can find two songs from last year debuting in this week’s edition. So this K-Pop debuts are “How you like that” (#89) by Blackpink, “Stay tonight” (#91) by Chung Ha, “Come see me” (#96) by AOA, “Fever” (#97) by GFriend, “Wannabe” (#99) by ITZY and “Oh my god” (#100) by G(I)-DLE.
