Week 491 – July 25th, 2020

This week’s summary starts with the same #1 as last week. So Emma’s “Quando l’amore finisce” (#1, “When love ends”) is holding the top spot. She is also continuing her success with three songs in the Top 3 from her “Fortuna” album. While “Quando l’amore finisce” is holding its spot “Alibi” (#2) and former #1 “Luci blu” (#3, “Blue lights”) swapped spots. Once more directly behind this triple pack is “I love you” (#4) by Anouk. Up five spots and into the Top 5 is Liam Gallagher with “Sad song” (#5). I believe that this song will end the Emma domination.

Leaving the Top 5 is 80’s inspired German pop song “Übermorgen” (#6, “The day after tomorrow”) by Mark Forster. Next in line are two non-movers. First to mention is “Somebody” (#6) by Dagny. The other one is “Oxygen” (#7) by Winona Oak & Robin Schulz. Dropping down three spots is Elif with “Ein letztes Mal” (#9, “One last time”). Celebrating a “comeback” in the Top 10 after his big hit “Higher love” is Kygo. He returns with “Lose somebody” (#10) with OneRepublic.

The greatest gainer of the week is “Zefix” (#50, “Oh shit”) by Austrian Chris Steger. This single has something that I can’t put into words, but I definitely like his song writing and maybe this 16 year old singer has a long career in his pocket. The highest debut is by another Austrian act. Edmund return with another single from their album “Leiwand”. Their song “Auf amoi” (#51, “At once”) is a really good choice for a follow up to “Leiwand” (#75, “Canwas”) which had been their first hit in the Austrian Top 40. For me this one is surely as good as “Büdl an da Wand” (“Picture on the wall”) which is their biggest hit on my chart so far. The 2nd highest debut is by Kygo. He enters the chart with a remix of Tina Turner’s 80s hit “What’s love got to do with it” (#52). Hopefully this song will do well too.

Other debuts are “Wach” (#57, “Wake”) by Mathea, “And it breaks my heart” (#58) by Léon, “Vertrau mir” (#83, “Trust me”) by Juju, “Houseparty” (#91) by Annalisa, “Ella dice” (#93, “She says”), “Sangria” (#94) by Emma Muscat feat. Astol and “Cry dancing” (#95) by NOTD & Nina Nesbitt.
