Week 525 – March 20th, 2021

Last week I wrote there is a chance for Oliva Dean reaching the top spot. With a climb of four spots "OK love you bye" (#1) did this one last step. It is definitely a surprise for me that she is reaching such a good spot. On the other hand I don't know who long she will reign because of the fact that the other Olivia in the Top 10 is also doing very well. "Drivers licence" (#4) climbed up three spots and is earning her the 1st Top 5 hit with her 1st chart appearance. Dropping down one is last week's #1 "Allein" (#2, "Alone") by Gestört Aber GeiL feat. Tina Naderer. Also dropping back is "Schwarz" (#3, "Black") by LEA. The 2nd new song in this part is an old one. Back again is former #1 "Über ich" (#5, "Over you").

This climbs means that two songs left the Top 5. Dropping out of the Top 3 is "Willow" (#6) by Taylor Swift. The other one is Frawley's "Knocking on my heart" (#7). I love both songs, but I think that their time in the Top 10 is ending soon. Up two spots is "Flames" (#8) by MOD SUN feat. Avril Lavigne. It is a decent song by Avril Lavigne and it is definitely a shame that her career isn't working as good as in my little fan bubble. The next two songs in a row are new songs in the Top 10. The higher ranked one is from Italy with a little help by British singer Birdy. For Mr. Rain it is the 2nd Top 10 hit after reaching this part with Annalisa back in 2019 and their song "Un domani" ("The day after tomorrow"). His song "Non c'é più musica" (#9, "There is no more music") climbed up five spots. The other new song is also a duet. It is "I would've loved you" (#10) by Jake Hoot feat. Kelly Clarkson. Jake Hoot won the 17th season of "The Voice US" with coach Kelly Clarkson. While this one is among several Top 10 hits for her it is his 1st one.

Last week two songs shared the award for the greatest gainer of the week. This week the award also goes to two songs. "Nuda" (#36) by Annalisa did it two weeks in a row. The other one is "Skin" (#35) by Sabrina Carpenter. For her this one is her biggest hit on my heart. Speaking about biggest hit I've to point out that the highest debut is also the biggest hit for the next artist to come. With "John Hughes movie" (#61) British singer Maisie Peters just reached the UK charts for the first time since launching her career in 2017. I really fell in love with this song right from the start, so you better expect a big climb for this song in the next edition. Directly behind "John Hughes movies" you can find the 2nd best debut. It is "It's a sin" (#62) by Years & Years. I've charted them before, but this Pet Shop Boys cover is really gorgeous. Sure when you know my chart than you know that not many covers reached the Top 10 (except the Kygo covers over the last years) , but this one has everything to do so.

Other debuts are "Angels like you" (#67) by Miley Cyrus, "Drifters in the wind" (#81) by 77 Bombay Street, "Let's go home together" (#89) by Ella Henderson & Tom Grennan, "What other people say" (#90) by Sam Fischer & Demi Lovato, "Magia" (#91, "Magic") by Álvaro Soler and "Waste my hate" (#93) by Icon For Hire.
