Week 523 – March 6th, 2021

Ten years ago I decided to make a personal chart again. So it's time to celebrate the 10-year-anniversary of my chart. It all started with the #1 by Any Major Dude's #1 "July July". This song stayed four weeks at the top and became a big smash for me in 2011. They only charted once more and disbanded later. The lead singer of this band is now a writer. "July July" was the first #1 and last week's #1 "Allein" (#1) was the 205th in this period. A coincidence leads to the fact that in this ten years the first #1 was by an Austrian interpret and with this week and of course last week an Austrian interpret is topping the chart. This time it is Austrian singer Tina Naderer as featured act on a Gestört Aber GeiL song. For her it is the 1st #1 song and she had a bunch of hits over the last years. In this period I charted 5905 songs and just surpased the 5900-song-mark with this week's edition. So "only" 3.5 % of the songs I charted reached the top in these 10 years.

That's enough about the past let's see which songs did best in this special week. I've pointed out that "Allein" ("Alone") is still the #1. Also still in the hunt is "Willow" (#2) by Taylor Swift. In fact the Top 3 is the same as last week because "Schwarz" (#3, "Black") by LEA didn't move either. Up two spots is "Knocking on my heart" (#4) by Frawley. I like this gem and maybe some others enjoy her song too. Down one spot is former #1 "Über dich" (#5, "Over you") by Madeline Juno. While this song is on its way down her latest single "Lass mich los" (#39, "Let me go") reached the Top 40 in its 2nd week on chart.

Cold War Kids are doing well with "Beyond the pale" (#6) which climbed up one spot. This song is followed by former #1 "Du tust es immer wieder" (#7, "You keep doing it") by LEA. Next in line is a new song in this part of the chart. It is by Olivia Dean with her incredible "OK love you bye" (#8). By definition this song is a real sleeper hit with the original release back in 2019. "OK love you bye" definitely reminds of a #1 back in 2011 when Portuguese singer Aurea reached #1 with "OK alright". So maybe this is a sign. Holding its spot is "This is home" (#9) by Kate Voegele while my country #1 "No body, no crime" (#10) by Taylor Swift feat. Haim reached the Top 10 for the first time.

As predicted Max Giesinger is debuting very high with his 2nd single  "Irgendwann ist jetzt" (#21, "Sometime is now") within two weeks. Over the years Max Giesinger had some hits on my chart, but with this one he has the change to enter the Top 10 and it is absolutely possible to reach the highest parts of the chart. This is also the only song debuting within the Top 50. Caught between the highest and the 2nd best debut is this week's greatest gainer. It is "Skin" (#55) by Sabrina Carpenter. This song climbed up 17 spots. The other mentioned debut is "I need you" (#60) by Jon Batiste. This song continues the trend of songs as "OK love you bye" or "Can't wait to see you" (#61) by Trish Toledo on my chart. Some of you will know him as bandleader and musical director on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert".

Machine Gun Kelly, "Magst oder stirbst" (#89, "Like or die") by Das Lumpenpack, "Happy anymore" (#90) by Trousdale, "Down to one" (#93) by Luke Bryan, "Pock di zom" (#94, "Pack yourself up") by Poxrucker Sisters and "American dream" (#100) by Willie Jones.
