Week 529 – April 17th, 2021

OK at the top there hasn't been a lot of action. Olivia Rodrigo is topping the chart for a 2nd week with her hit "Drivers license" (#1). Still in the hunt after non-moving this week is "OK love you bye" (#2) by Olivia Dean. Up one spot and for the first time in the Top 3 is "Lass mich los" (#3, "Let me go") by Madeline Juno. Is this song ready for taking over? Maybe, but the last word hasn't yet been spoken. Mostly because that Annalisa is storming up the chart with "Nuda" (#4, "Naked"). This song climbed up five spots in its 2nd week in the Top 10. Down two spots is former #1 song "Allein" (#5, "Alone") by Gestört Aber GeiL feat. Tina Naderer.

"Allein" is leading three former #1 songs in a row. The next one is "Schwarz" (#6, "Black") by LEA which is holding its spot. Then there is "Über dich" (#7) by Madeline Juno which climbed up one spot after discussing its dropping out of the Top 10 last week. Dropping three spots are "Flames" (#8) by MOD SUN feat. Avril Lavigne and "I would've loved you" (#10) by Jake Hoot feat. Kelly Clarkson. Caught between these two songs is "Irgendwann ist jetzt" (#9, "Sometime is now") by German singer Max Giesinger.

The greatest gainer of the week is surely a surprise. Last week country/americana singer Morgan Wade re-entered the chart with her single "Don't cry" (#43). This week this song climbed up 27 spots and nearly reached the Top 40. This song definitely benefited from the fact that I purchased her debut album "Reckless". As always the information about the greatest gainer is followed by the information which song is the highest debut. This week is a song from a new Austrian band. Schwarzweiß debuts with their single "I wü Di" (#31, "I want you"). This one is definitely a gem and I can't believe that I just discovered this song – it had been released late in 2020 and the music video has been released three months ago. I really can say that I see this song at least in my Top 20 and hopefully it is doing better.

The 2nd best debut is by well-known German schlager singer Vanessa Mai. She is constantly producing hit singles for me and so it is no surprise that her recent single "Ruf nicht mehr an" (#48, "Don't call anymore") is debuting in the Top 50. This song reminds me lyrically to Mabel's "Don't call me up" which was a big hit for me back in the days. At the moment I can see this song rising very fast, but who knows maybe this song will enter the Top 10 as well as "I wü Di".
