Week 576 – March12th, 2022

After three weeks at the top Kelsea Ballerini and LANY are stepping back with their hit song “I quit drinking” (#2). This made the way free for “In the dark” (#1). For German Purple Disco Machine and British singer Sophie and the Giants it is their first #1 hit. New in the Top 3 is Canadian singer Tate McRae. Her catchy song “She’s all I wanna be” (#3) climbed up another five spots and is ready for #1. Holding its spot is “On my way” (#4) by Natalie Imbruglia. Directly behind is “I bet you think about me” (#5) by Taylor Swift feat. Chris Stapleton. I’ve never thought that this song will ever reach the Top 5 again but the former #1 is back.

“When you’re drunk” (#6) by LANY left the Top 5 after dropping three spots. Next in line is “Maybe it’s great” (#7) by Natalie Imbruglia. For Austrian band Pizzera & Jaus the sign shows stop for being in the Top 10. Their song “Der seidene Faden (#8, “The silk thread”) dropped three spots. Up one spot is “Debbie Downer” (#9) by LØLØ & Maggie Lindemann. This song switched the spot with “Other side” (#10) by Morgan Wade.

Interestingly the greatest gainer of the week only climbed up 11 spots. It is a rock cover of “Easy on me” (#20) by Rain Paris. The big question is if she is able to reach the Top 10 for the first time. As I really like this one it is possible. Not far behind you can find the highest debut. It is by US band The Regrettes. On my chart they are most known for their minor hits “Come through” (peaked at #93 in 2018) and “Monday” (peaked at #96 back in October 2021). Now they are back with their single “You’re so fucking pretty” (#25) which blow me away with the first listen. This song easily reached the Top 30 and maybe this one will enter the Top 10 by next week. Directly behind you can find the 2nd best new entry. It is by Scottish singer Nina Nesbitt. Over the years she had several hits in the Top 20, but none of these songs entered the Top 10. Her emotional song “When you lose someone” (#26) has the chance to change this fact and I hope she will do it. And there is a third song entering the Top 40. It is French Kungs with “Clap your hands” (#37). He returned for the first time since 2017.
