Week 577 – March19th, 2022

Last week has been the premier chart topping week for “In the dark” (#1) by Purple Disco Machine feat. Sophie and the Giants. Their 80s inspired track is now for a 2nd week at the top. Behind you can find “She’s all I wanna be” by Tate McRae. This one is definitely a song which could take over in the next weeks. Down one spot is former #1 “I quit drinking” (#3) by Kelsea Ballerini & LANY. The rest of the Top 5 is holding their spots. So “On my way” by Natalie Imbruglia is still at #4 and former #1 “I bet you think about me” by Taylor Swift feat. Chris Stapleton is still at #5.
Reaching the Top 10 for the first time is Canadian singer Alyssa Reid. A long time ago she had some songs on my chart, but with “Roses” (#6) she sprinted into the Top 10. Next in line is “Maybe it’s great” (#7) the 2nd song in this part by Natalie Imbruglia. Up one spot is “Debbie Downer” (#8) by LØLØ & Maggie Lindemann. Alyssa Reid isn’t the only new act in the Top 10. At #9 and #10 there are two more debuts. First to mention is young US-singer Lexi Jayde. Her song “Drunk text me” (#9) climbed up four spots to earn her the premier week in my Top 10. Also a premier is “No Romeo” (#10) for British singer Dylan after climbing up four spots to reach the Top 10.

The award for the greatest gainer of the week goes to Austria. Ben Saber’s single “Heute Nacht” (#40, “Tonight”) climbed up 20 spots in its 2nd charting week. I’ll stay with Austrian artists. Austrian singer Mathea returned very strong in the last weeks. Her single “Wenn du mich vermisst” (#15, “If you miss me”) is a collaboration with German rapper Fourty. For this song they sample early 2000’s hit “All the things she said” by Russian act t.A.T.u. This week their song sprinted into the Top 20. You might ask why I point this out. Because her latest single “Funke, Flächenbrand” (#16, “Spark, wildfire”) is the highest debut for this week’s edition. This one has grown on me since I first listened to it and in the end a Top 20 debut stands for that. Maybe this or her other one will reach the Top 10 or even more in the next week.

Bring Me The Horizon and “Lose my mind” (#97) by James Arthur feat. Josh Franceschi.
