Week 578 – March 26th, 2022

The match between Purple Disco Machine & Sophie and the Giants vs. Tate McRae for the top spot is going into another round. This week “In the dark” (#1) won once again against “She’s all I wanna be” (#2). Holding its spot is “I quit drinking” (#3) by Kelsea Ballerini & LANY. The three weeks chart topping song is just defining its spot, because “Roses” (#4) by Alyssa Reid is still sprinting up the chart and should reach the Top 3 by next week. Down one spot is “On my way” (#5) by Natalie Imbruglia.

For a 2nd time in its charting career “I bet you think about me” (#6) by Taylor Swift feat. Chris Stapleton dropped out of the Top 5. This song is followed by “Debbie Downer” (#7) by LØLØ & Maggie Lindemann. Up two spots is “No Romeo” (#8) by newcomer Dylan. Before this song I’ve not known her and now she is on her way into the Top 5. Next in line is another newcomer. Lexi Jayde’s “Drunk text me” (#9). On its way out is “Maybe it’s great” (#10) by Natalie Imbruglia.

Directly behind the Top 10 there are several potential top hits. First to mention is Rain Paris with her rock cover of “Easy on me” (#11). Here I’ve the feeling that this song will do this one last step next week. This one is followed by “Love it when you hate me” (#12) by Avril Lavigne feat. Blackbear. This song isn’t as good as “Bite me” (#28) but it still should reach the Top 10 in the next weeks. Surely, I shouldn’t forget Austrian singer Mathea. She is on her way into this part with two songs. First to mention is “Wenn du mich vermisst” (#13, “If you miss me”) with Fourty and their interpolation of “All the things she said” by t.A.T.u.. Her other song is “Funke, Flächenbrand” (#14, “Spark, wildfire”).

The greatest gainer of the week is “Boyfriend” (#55) by Dove Cameron. This song climbed up 15 spots in its 5th charting week. Directly behind you can find the highest debut. It is “Loved you a little” (#56). This song is a collaboration between The Maine, Taking Back Sundays and Charlotte Sands. For US rock band The Maine is their chart debut although I really like their 2010 singles “Inside of you” and “Right girl”. Unfortunately, these songs have been released before I decided to start charting again. Since that the failed to impress me, but now they are back. For their partners on this song it is also their chart debut.
