Week 594 – July 16th, 2022

 Last week Spanish singer Aitana took over my chart with a double pack. This week she did it again. Still topping the chart is “En el coche” (#1, “In the car”) which is followed by “Mariposes” (#2, “Butterflies”) where she is singing with Italian singer sangiovanni for whom this is his first Top 3 hit. New in the Top 3 is Morgan Wade with “Last cigarette” (#3). For the first time in the Top 5 is British indie pop rock band Pale Waves. They rose to fame with songs from their 2nd album “Who am I?”. Unfortunately, they haven’t had a big charting hit elsewhere, but for me “Lies” (#4) is their best song up to date. On the other hand, they are debuting in this week’s edition with the follow up single “Jealousy” (#49). Rounding out this week’s Top 5 is former #1 “Von dir ein Tattoo” (#5, “A tattoo of you”) by Josh..

Dropping out of the Top 5 is one former #1. “Funke, Flächenbrand” (#6, “Spark, Wildfire”) by Mathea dropped one spot. This one is followed by “Run” (#7) by Morgan Wade which also dropped one spot and is a former #1. The next two songs are new in the Top 10. The higher ranked one is “Message in a bottle” (#8) by Taylor Swift. The other one is “What it feels like” (#9) by Natalie Imbruglia. And last but not least LEA also can be found in this week’s Top 10. She is in with “Immer wieder” (#10, “Again and again”), but dropped out with “Swimmingpool” (#11, “Swimming pool”) and “Fluss” (#12, “River”).

The award for the greatest gainer of the week goes to three songs. They all climbed up 10 spots. The highest ranked is “What it feels like” (#9) by Natalie Imbruglia. The other ones are “What I want” (#25) by Muna and “So good” (#26) by Halsey. The highest debut just missed the Top 30 and is by Austrian singer Esther Graf. Her song “sad = sexy” (#31) is in the tradition of her top hits “Red flags” and “Nie begegnet” (#23) and should do very well for me. I still hope she will enter the Austrian Top 40 in the future. The 2nd best debut is by US superstar Pink. Her new single “Irrelevant” step in at #43 and is ready for reaching the higher parts of the chart.

Other debuts are “Girl of your dreams” (#56) by Dylan, “All these nights” (#59) by Tom Grennan, “Catch me in the air” (#62) by Rina Sawayama, “Stupid” (#79) by Cate – this one is from 2021, but I just discovered it via Spotify –, “Ok.” (#83) by Ali471 feat. Elif, “Kiss me like you mean it” (#84) by Casey Barnes, “Eigentlich” (#89, “Actually”) by LEA & 01099, “You’re not special” (#90) by Maggie Lindemann, “Selfish” (#91) by Bow Anderson, “Vermisst” (#94, “Missed”) by Franzi Harmsen and “ABCDEF*CK OFF” (#100) by Leslie Clio.
