Week 625 – February 18th, 2023

After eight weeks JuJu isn’t topping the chart with her super smash “Nie wieder sehen” (#2, “Never see again”). The song which took me by surprise dropped one spot and swapped spot with “Unwanted” (#1) by Pale Waves. For them this is their fourth #1 from the album with the same title. You can definitely say, that I love this album. New at the podium is “Surrender my heart” (#3) by Carly Rae Jepsen. Maybe she is also scoring another #1 from her album “The loneliest time”. Next in line and new in this part is “Alone” (#4). It’s one more song by Pale Waves. Rounding out this week’s Top 5 is “The night” (#5) by Morgan Wade.

Dropping out of the Top 5 is “Get over you” (#6) by Dylan Conrique. Still a good song, but with now 14 weeks in the chart there is an end of the Top 10 run in sight. Directly behind you can find “Flowers” (#7) by Miley Cyrus. Over the years she produced many hits and now this one is among the better ones. “If Jesus was a rockstar” (#8) by Kim Petras is holding its spot while “I’m a mess” (#9) by Avril Lavigne & YUNGBLUD and “Anti-Hero” (#10) by Taylor Swift are dropping down.

The greatest gainer of the week is “Komet” (#63, “Comet”) by German Udo Lindenberg X Apache 207. For Udo Lindenberg “Komet” is his 1st #1 hit in Germany in his over 40 year career span. He had his 1st Top 5 hit in Germany back in 1983 with “Sonderzug nach Pankow” (“Special train to Pankow”). In Austria this song reached #3. Since that he only reached the Top 10 in Germany again in 2008 with “Wenn Du durchhängst” (“When you’re feeling down”) and in 2011 with “Cello”. On my chart “Komet” rose 19 spots and is awaited to reach the Top 50 by next week.

The highest debut is by Kwon Eun Bi. She is known for her hit “Esper” (peaked at #13) back in 2022. Now she returned very strong with “Underwater” (#42) which should do as well as her hit in 2022. The 2nd best debut is by Canadian act Walk Off the Earth. Their song “My stupid heart” (#57) just missed the Top 50. One spot behind Mckenna Grace is returning with “Checkered vans” (#58). Also giving its debut is “Engel” (#64, “Angel”) by 1986zig. For me personally his voice is similar with the voice by one of the biggest German stars Herbert Grönemeyer.

Other debuts are “You” (#81) by The BossHoss & Ilse DeLange, “Special” (#82) by Lizzo, “Lavender haze” (#85) by Taylor Swift, “When you love too much” (#86) and “Not sorry” (#87) by Natalie Imbruglia, “We go down together” (#88) by Dove Cameron & Khalid, “Best part” (#93) by Esther Graf, “Insanity” (#94) by Anna-Sophie, “If you go down (I’m goin’ down too)” (#95) by Kelsea Ballerini, “When you’re young” (#96) by Clara Mae, “Lay low” (#97) by YooA and “Bleed for you” (#98) by Kat Hasty.
