Week 629 – March 18th, 2023

Miley Cyrus is topping the chart again. For “Flowers” it is the 2nd chart topping week. Still in the hunt are two former #1’s. First to mention is “Surrender my heart” (#2) by Carly Rae Jepsen. This song also spent two weeks at the top. The other one is “Nie wieder sehen” (#3, “Never see again”) by JuJu which spent a total of eight weeks at the top. For the first time in a long time a Kpop song reached the Top 5. It is “Underwater” (#4) by Kwon Eun Bi. “Underwater” could be the first #1 hit out of this genre since late 2020 when Blackpink reached #1 with “Lovesick girls”. Next in line is “Ugly” (#5) by Dylan Conrique.

“Monsters” (#6) by Camylio failed to do the last step and is still hanging at the same spot as last week. Dropping three spots is former #1 “Unwanted” (#7) by Pale Waves. They are followed by German singer 1986zig with his single “Engel” (#8, “Angel”). I really like this song and maybe it will also reach the Top 3 as his 1st Top 10 hit “Danke” (#33, “Thank you”). Up one spot and caught between the two new songs in the Top 10 is “Sag nicht sorry” (#9, “Don’t say sorry”) by LEA who is going to release her new album “Bülowstrasse” early in May. I hope it is better than her latest single “Fuchs” (“Fox”) which I don’t really like – it’s the first song by her in years I can’t stand. The other new song in this part of the chart is “Carry me home” (#10) by Morgan Wade.

The greatest gainer of the week is “Trustfall” (#29) by Pink. Although it climbed up 11 spots this song struggles to reach the Top 20 at least. Unfortunately, I don’t see this song in my Top 10. The highest debut is by The Weeknd. The song itself is a little bit older. Originally released in 2017 as a regular single this song gained my attention as a remix with Ariana Grande. Now this song debuts at #58.
