Week 680 – March9th, 2024

It didn’t last long that my prediction for a new #1 has become real. New at the top is “Killer” (#1) by FKA twigs. This song climbed up five spots and replaced four times #1 “You & me” (#2) by Jennie. For FKA twigs it is the first #1 with the first chart appearance. Still on the podium is also four times #1 “Euforia” (#3, “Euphoria”) by Annalisa. Last week Anouk returned into the Top 5 and this week “Are you done running” (#4) is holding its spot. “ ‘til I don’t” (#5) by LANY dropped two spots and is on its way out of the Top 5.

Next in line is “Ein halbes Leben” (#6, “A half life”) by Christina Stürmer after climbing up four spots. Christina Stürmer is the highest ranked artist from Austria and managed to debut with another new single from her upcoming MTV live album. She is followed by Fedez, Annalisa & Articolo 31 with their song “Disco Paradise” (#7) which dropped two spots. For the first time in the Top 10 US singer TAELA can be found. Her song “Keep your demons” (#8) climbed up eight spots to earn her this honour. Shania Yan is holding the spot with the cover “Everytime we touch” (#9). Last but not least is another new song in the Top 10. It is “Act my age” (#10) by Pale Waves.

TAELA just reached the Top 10 and is also climbing up the chart with her other single “Bleachers” (#35). This song is the greatest gainer of the week after climbing up 21 spots. The highest debut is by a new artist from Austria. Ella Stern is debuting with “R&J” (#53) which stands for Romeo and Juliet. When I first listened to this song, I noticed the similarities between her and Esther Graf, but other than Esther Graf her song got little radio airplay. Only God knows why her song is played on air while I haven’t heard a song by Esther Graf on the radio so far. But this was also the way I discovered the song which is very unusual in these days. The 2nd best debut is also from Austria. It is “Keine Märchen” (#59, “No fairy tales”) by Christina Stürmer feat. Deine Freunde.

Other debuts are “Trust issues” (#75) and “While you’re at it” (#76) by Alana Springsteen, “Training season” (#87) by Dua Lipa, “Tempo” (#88) by Sampagne, badchieff & Cro, “Howl” (#91) by Chuu, “Girl in your story” (#92) by rlyblonde, “Quitter” (#95) by Katelyn Tarver, “Dancing with wolves” (#97) by Callum Beattie and “Liebt sie dich wie ich” (#98, “Does she love you like I do”) by Natalie Holzner.
