Week 549– September 4th, 2021

Next week our school is starting with its 1st week of summer school. Sure it's only one week before the regular start, but it is better than nothing. So for me this is the last chart for the summer holidays and I'm sure everybody is excited to get to know where the 1st single by ABBA in 40 years will debut. Is it a Top 10 debut or even will I ignore those two singles because I don't like them? The answer to all of your questions will give you the review of week 549.

Let's start with the usual review of the Top 10. Last week "Tu was du willst" (#3, "Do what you want") by Madeline Juno took over. After only one week at the top this song dropped two spots. It made the way free for LEA & Casper. Their duet "Schwarz" (#1, "Black") did the last step after climbing up one spot. So "Schwarz" is the first song which reached #1 with the original and the remix version and everything happened in the same year too! Caught between these two mentioned songs is the cover version of "Du trägst keine Liebe in dir" (#2, "You carry no love in you"). For German DJ Ninja POW! and Franzi Harmsen it is their first hit in the Top 3 and it is possible that this song is doing the last step in the next edition. For those who have bet that ABBA is debuting in the Top 3 this will be a disappointment. On the other side I'm sure that most of you haven't predicted this high debut because of the fact that top debuts are rather rare in this year. Next in line are former #1 "Sandbox love (#4) by Alanis Morissette and "Bad habits" (#5) by Ed Sheeran.

Still near the Top 5 is "Psycho" (#6) by Maisie Peters. It has been a tough decision but in the end I enjoyed "Bad habits" more. This song is followed by another non-moving song which is "Alles in mir will zu Dir" (#7, "Everything in me wants to you") by Sarah Connor. While I really like this song everyone else seems to ignore this one. It still hasn't reached any notable chart. Up two spots is "Movimento lento" (#8, "Slow movement") by Annalisa feat. Federico Rossi. On their way out of the Top 10 are two former #1's. Both "Good 4 U" (#9) by Olivia Rodrigo and "Mr. perfectly fine" (#10) by Taylor Swift dropped one spot. So there is no spot left for the new ABBA songs in my Top 10.

The award for the greatest gainer of the week goes go "-" (#44) by Aitana & Álvaro Diaz & Pole.. I absolutely enjoy listening to this song from "11 razones" and it should reach the Top 20 very soon. So as always this brings me to the top debuts. Unfortunately none of these songs managed to debut within the Top 50. The highest debut is "Cold heart (PNAU Remix)" (#71) by Elton John & Dua Lipa. For Elton John it is the first charting hit in my 2nd charting era. I hope that this remix will do well over the next week and send Elton John at least into the Top 50. So finally the 2nd best debut is by ABBA. Their comeback single "I still have faith in you" (#73) is in my eyes solid. It has been compared with "The winner takes it all" which is definitely not my favourite by them. So it is hard to predicted where the journey will end, but for the moment I don't see a Top 10 hit for me. Their 2nd single "Don't shut me down" (#74) also debuts this week and maybe it will do a little bit better in the long run, but for the 1st charting week "I still have faith in you" did better.

Other debuts are "Lies" (#75) by Lee Brice, "Glasgow (no place like home)" (#84) by Jessie Buckley – I just saw this 2019 film this week and a I love Jessie Buckley's performance –, "Catch myself" (#85) by Taylor Edwards, "Dumb love" (#91) by Mimi Webb, "Die Welt steht auf Pause" (#92, "The world is on pause") by Adel Tawil, "Incredíble" (#96, "Incredible") by Rolf Sanchez & Kris Kross Amsterdam, "One kind of beautiful" (#96) by Brook Colley, "Bijin" (#97, "Beautiful people") by CHANMINA and "Honky tonk in heaven" (#98) by Kin Faux.
