Week 554– October 9th, 2021

It has been a while ago when a country singer reached #1 on my chart. Sure there have been cross over hits as "Nothing breaks like a heart" by Mark Ronson & Miley Cyrus back in 2019, "Dancing" and "Stop me from falling" by Kylie Minogue back in 2018 which reached #1. Those songs are considered as "Country Disco" or "Country Pop". And of course Taylor Swift has topped my chart but mostly with pop songs or in the more recent days with her "Indie Pop" songs. The last time a country singer topped my chart was in 2017. It has been Shannon LaBrie with her song "Alcohol". This one topped the chart for two weeks and it is her only charting hit so far. Four years and nine months later Morgan Wade did the last step with her song "Wilder days" (#1) and so she becomes the first country singer since that to reach #1.

Directly behind you can find the first of three songs by Franzi Harmsen in the Top 10. Her song "Zweieinhalb Sekunden" (#2, "Two and a half seconds") climbed up four spots to bring her the 2nd Top 3 hit. Her former #1 "Du trägst keine Liebe in dir" (#3, "You carry no love in you") with Ninja POW! dropped two spots and is still one of the best cover song I've charted in now ten years. "Schwarz" (#4, "Black") by LEA & Casper left the Top 3 in this week's edition. For Casper this is bad news. New in the part of the chart is another song by LEA. Her single "Wenn du mich lässt" (#5, "If you let me") climbed up two spots.

Standing in front of the Top 5 is the 3rd song by Franzi Harmsen. Her song "Nie mehr" (#6, "No more") is doing as well as her other songs. For former #1 "Tu was du willst" (#7, "Do what you want") by Madeline Juno the journey within the Top 10 seems to end in the very near future. This week this song dropped two spots. Next in line is another album cut by LEA. "Sylt 98" (#8) climbed up three spots. Also on their way out of the Top 10 are "Renegade" (#9) by Big Red Machine feat. Taylor Swift and "Sandbox love" (#10) by Alanis Morissette.

Last week two songs were awarded with the greatest gainer of the week. One of this songs had been "Dopamine" (#28) by Purple Disco Machine feat. Eyelar. This week this song is also awarded after climbing up 11 spots. As last week this award goes to another song with the same amount of climbing up the chart. The other song is "Parfum" (#40, "Perfume") by LEA. As always this award is followed by the highest debut. It isn't a big debut but a solid one. "Neu erzählen" (#68, "Retell new") by Revolverheld. They are well-known on my chart and so this one could or should do better in the future.

Other debuts are "Fluchtwagen" (#82, "Fast car") by Alexa Feser & Kool Savas, "Du bist weg" (#83, "You're gone") by Achtabahn & Kayef, "Nein (Du kannst mir nicht weh tun)" (#84, "No (You can't hurt me)") by Katha Rosa, "Alright" (#87) by Alle Farben feat. KIDDO, "23" (#88) by Sam Hunt, "Alles zu seiner Zeit" (#94, "All in good time") by Clueso and "ZuNahMe (Live)" (#100) – "ZuNahMe stands for the German pronunciation of tsunami and literally means in the context of the song "Too close to me") by Miss Allie.
