Week 658 – October 7th, 2023

Here is this week’s review. Better late than never. Let’s start with the most recent #1. Austrian singer fiio got its first #1 with the first chart appearance. “Sofia” (#1) climbed up one spot and outperformed “Du und L.A.” (#2, “You and L.A.”) by Clueso. New in the Top 3 is “Superbloodmoon” (#3) by Holly Humberstone feat. d4vd. Holly Humberstone has now two charting songs because her follow up single just debuted, but more later. Next in line and up three spots is “We’re not in love anymore” (#4) by Knox feat. Charlotte Sands. Knox is also debuting with another song in this week’s edition. Then there is “Alles und mehr” (#5, “Everything and more”) by Tagtraeumer who are on their way out of the Top 5.

Dropping out of the Top 5 is “Lovesong” (#6) by Madeline Juno. Directly behind you can find the highest ranked new song in this part of the chart. P!nk climbed up four spots with “Runway” (#7) in this edition of the chart. Next in line and on its way out of the Top 10 is “Summer fling” (#8) by Chloe Jane. Then there is RØRY with “The apology I’ll never receive” (#9) which climbed up one spot. And last but not least there is another new song in the Top 10. Silbermond are returning with “Verletzen” (#10, “Hurting”).

The award for the greatest gainer of the week goes to “Care less” (#33) by LANY after climbing up 23 spots. So let’s speak about this weeks highest debut. It is another song from Kelly Clarkson’s latest album “Chemistry”. “Roses” (#51) just missed the Top 50 but should enter it very soon. The 2nd best debut is by Aiko & clide. While clide had some smaller hits in the past “Another life” (#52) is Aiko’s chart debut. As I mentioned above Holly Humberstone is entering the chart with “Kissing in swimming pools” and Knox is entering with “Man down” (#62). The most notable debut – at least for me – is by an artist I personally know. This is the first time every that happened. For a couple of years he had been my colleague and since September he had become the headmaster of the school where I’m teaching. And now he finally managed to debut on my chart. His songs are Brit Pop inspired. Unfortunately for him I didn’t really like his other songs, but with “A cure for my soul” (#80) he debuted. So let’s welcome Dance Like A Poet.

Other debuts are “Modern girl” (#70) by Bleachers, “Come over” (#79) by Carly Rae Jepsen, “Dance with me” (#93) by blink-182, “Not afraid to die” (#94) by Grayscale, “Downtime” (#95) by Roman Alexander feat.
