Week 678 – February 24th, 2024

A relatively young chart is lead by Jennie for the third consecutive time. Her song “You & me” could be one of the biggest hits in 2024 if this song will lead the chart for some more weeks. Behind you can find another favourite of mine in 2024. “Euforia” (#2, “Euphoria”) by Annalisa topped the chart for four weeks and is still in the Top 3. This is also “Disco Paradise” (#3) by Fedez, Annalisa & Articolo 31. Last week I predicted the songs only week in the Top 3, but I was wrong. It is now two weeks. Up five spots and now for the first time in the Top 5 is “ ‘til I die” (#4) by LANY. My most played band since 2017 is on the track to reach the Top 3 once more. Back in the Top 5 is Kelly Clarkson. Her song “Lighthouse” (#5) climbed up three spots.

“My love” (#6) by Leigh-Anne feat Ayra Starr failed to reach the Top 5 for the 2nd time in a row. Next in line is “Are you done running” (#7) by Anouk. Oh man, this song is growing more and more and should reach the Top 5 by next week. Then there are “Versprich mir du gehst” (#8), “Promise me you’ll go”) by Madeline Juno x 1986zig and “Ragazza sola” (#9, “Lonely girl”) by Annalisa. Both former #1’s are on their way out of the Top 10. Rounding out this week’s Top 10 is another former #1. “AQYNE” (#10) by Aitana & Danna Paola dropped three spots and should also be found outside the Top 10 by next week.

The award for the greatest gainer of the week goes to “So sick (of missing you)” (#19) by Pale Waves after climbing up 18 spots. This week several songs climbed up more than ten spots and had a real chance to get awarded. As always, this leads me to the highest debut. This week only can be found outside the Top 50. It is “Feiawerk” (#57, “Firework”) by Austrian band Granada. They aren’t new to me because they charted two times before. Back in 2015 they charted for the first time with “Palmen am Balkon” (“Palm trees on the balcony”) which reached #10. Then there had been “Pina Colada” in 2016 which peaked at #84. All their other songs failed to impress me, but now they are back. Also debuting with a new song is 1986zig with “Schloss aus Sand” (#58, “Castle made of sand”). This song is an interpolation of “Irgendwie, irgendwo, irgendwann” by German star Nena back in 1984. I really like what he did with this song and so it could be another hit for him. The third highest debut in a row is “Beat of your heart” (#59) by Purple Disco Machine & ÁSDÍS.

Other debuts are “Weißes Kleid“ (#84, “White dress“) by Kati K, “Diamant” (#85, “Diamond“) by Paula Douglas & Payman – this song is based on Rihanna’s big hit –, “Right now” (#86) by Chris Young, “What I have” (#88) and “Love is a cowboy) (#89) by Kelsea Ballerini, “Spicy” (#90) by aespa, “Rocket science” (#94) by Cate, “Das größte Kompliment” (#95, “The biggest compliment”) by Florian Künstler, “DOXA” (#96) by SECRET NUMBER and “So good” (#100) by Pam Anisha.
