Week 148 – December 28th, 2013

Happy holidays to everybody! This week’s edition starts with the same #1 as last week's Christmas Edition. Emma’s “L’amore non mi basta” is still at #1 and is holding off Satin Circus. And for more than two weeks the whole Top 3 is the same. Therefore Ben Montague and his biggest chart hit “Love like stars” remains at #3. Underneath the top spots there are some changes in the Top 10. So Lily Allen climbed up another spot with “Hard out here” (#4) and Pink reached the Top 5 with “Walk of shame” (#5). Two songs reached the Top 10 for the first time which brings three artists a Top 10 who had non before. “The monster” (#8) by Eminem feat. Rihanna and “Amalfi” (#9) by Hooverphonic are these new songs.

Katy Perry missed this part by one spot with her latest smash hit “Unconditionally” (#11). She is ready for the next step and maybe will replace “Let me go” (#10) by Avril Lavigne & Chad Kroeger next week. Or is it Jillette Johnson? Her latest output from her debut album “Water in a whale” “Last bus out” (#12) is continuing the uptrend as well as Pink’s “Beam me up” (#15). The only German song which is ready for the Top 10 is a track by German rapper Sido. “Einer dieser Steine” (#19) is showing his soft side with support by Mark Forster.

Last week I wrote that Chinese-South Korean act miss A could easily join the other Korean tracks in my Top 40. This week “Hush” (#30) climbed up 38 spots and gets the gainer of the week award. “Hush” is nearly leading the Korean pack this week by surpassing the other Korean songs on my chart with lightness. But “Hush” isn’t the only song which climbed up my chart in the fast way. Colbie Caillat’s “Hold on” (#39) climbed up 35 spots to a new peak within the Top 40. And there are several other songs which did nearly the same. Among these songs are “Rennen + Stolpern” (#53) by Jupiter Jones or “The last time” (#43) by Taylor Swift feat. Gary Lightbody.

The highest new entry comes from an Austrian band. Earlier this year this band had a hit with their Christian Rock song and charity single “Woman of Samaria”. This week I’ve checked out the Cardiac Move’s homepage and found out that they released a new single some months ago. And now “We are” (#52) debuted on my chart as best new single. The other “top” debut comes from Australia. Aussie Samantha Jade placed her next single “Soldier” (#58) on my chart. So far every single by her reached Top 20 including her #1 smash hit “What’ve you done to me”.

“The Voice of Germany” ended with the anticipated win by Andreas Kümmert. Out of the contest three new singles found their way into my chart. The highest of these three new singles comes from 17 years old Debbie Schippers who ended the show at the 4th place. Her song “Skin and bones” (#80) is the kind of pop rock song I like. The next is “Fucking beautiful” (#81) by Judith van Hel. This one is more a rock ballad than a rock song. And the winning single “Simple man” (#82) ended up in the third place on my chart.

Beside the other debuts there are two album cuts by Christina Aguilera. “Sing for me” (#59) and “Make the world move” (#74) with Cee Lo Green are debuting this week. The other new songs are “Cannonball” (#84) by Lea Michele, “Royals” (#89 a Lorde cover; the original song didn’t chart) by Pentatonix, “Now” (#97) by High South, “One way love” (#98) by Hyolyn who is the Sistar’s lead singer and “So in luv” (#99) by Shu-I.
