Week 99 – January 19th, 2013

I’ve got a new #1 song. As predicted last week it’s “Raver” by The Storm. This dance song is really underrated and should have been a hit everywhere. Alanis Morissette is back at the runner’s up position with “Receive”. Former #1 “What you’ve done to me” by Samantha Jade dropped down two and is completing the podium. Three songs are new in the Top 10. For Chiara Galiazzo it’s her first Top 10 hit. “Due respire” (#8) climbed up 4. Taylor Swift had two Top 10 hits before with “We are never ever getting back together” as her only #1 song until now. “Red” (#9) gives its Top 10 debut this week while “I knew you were trouble.” (#4) is sprinting up the chart. The last new song in the Top 10 comes from Kate Voegele. “Unusual” (#10) is among her strong songs from her album “Gravity happens”.

Outside this part of the chart Kelly Clarkson’s knocking at the door wasn’t answered. “Catch my breath” (#13) dropped down two spots. For the first time after 20 weeks (a new record) Cover Drive feat. Dappy isn’t in my Top 10. Their smash hit “Explode” (#14) dropped down 4 spots. And so the way for new songs is free. Let’s begin with “Troublemaker” (#11). For Olly Murs and for Flo Rida this could be their first hit in the top section of the chart. Also climbing up the chart is “Angel” (#16) by 77 Bombay Street which could be the bands next big hit after “Up in the sky” and “In the war” in summer 2011. And I shouldn’t forget about Matt Cardle. All his songs climbed up the chart except former Top 10 hit “Stars & lovers” (#81). At the moment “Letters” (#17) is his highest charting song.

This week’s highest new entry comes from a well-known German dance act. Cascada takes part at the German preliminary for the Eurovision Song Contest. Their song “Glorious” (#32) is a typical work for them and they absolutely have the chance to win this contest with this song which could be the next big hit for Natalie Horler and Cascade. “Glorious” debuts one spot behind the greatest gainer of the week. Bon Jovi’s new single “Because we can” (#31) climbed up 25 spots. The second best new entry comes from Charlene Soraia. In 2011 she had a big hit in the UK with a cover of the The Calling’s “Wherever you will go”. With “Ghost” (#52) from her upcoming album she is giving her chart debut.

Returning to the chart are The Saturdays with “What about us” (#68). Up-to-date their biggest hit had been “Notorious” in 2011 which peaked at #49. After the depart of singer Adam Gontier Three Days Grace is also returning with the bands new single “The high road” (#76). “Gold” (#82) by Britt Nicole is also debuting this week. I was uncertain about this song, but finally she made the cut. Other debuts are “Wo bist du jetzt?” (#67, Where are you now?) by F.R.E.I., “Don’t let me fall behind” (#77) by Jukebox The Ghost, “Mi one and only” (#89) by Ana Isabelle, “Alive” (#90) by Krewella, “Let go” (#91) by Alina Grosu and “Ich bin ja kein Mann” (#98, I’m not a men) by Linda Hesse.
