Fitz and the Tantrums - Fools gold
Points: 1351.3
Peak: #4
Weeks: 18 (still charting)
Album: More than just a dream

This song is my favourite song by US band Fitz and the Tantrums. I had been intruduced to this song late in 2013 and what should I say I liked this song. So I had no chance, but to chart this song with its release as a single. Nine weeks in the Top 10 and peaking at #4 for three weeks brought them their highest year-end placement.

Electric Lady Lab - Hurts

Points: 1453.0
Peak: #2
Weeks: 21
Album: -

Danish band Electric Lady Lab is known for their sampeling big hits from the past and make it to their own. This time it had been Roxette's "Listen to your heart". "Hurts" only spent seven weeks in the Top 10, but it peaked at #2. As scandipop.co.uk wrote listening to a song by them means that you often forget that this song was built around a sample of another song.

Chila Lynn - When love ...

Points: 1465.6
Peak: #2
Weeks: 20
Album: Real woman

"When love ..." is maybe the most surprising song in the year-end review of 2014. Originally this song had been released as leading single for Chila Lynn's debut album "Real woman" in January 2012. An incredible voice, clever lyrics and a rousing sound lead this woman from Cuba into my Top 10. "When love ..." stayed eleven weeks in the Top 10 and therof five weeks in the Top 3. Needless to say that I like this song about the end of a relationship.

Taylor Swift - Starlight

Points: 1476.0
Peak: #4
Weeks: 24
Album: Red

Taylor Swift's Red album did very well for me. With one of her last charting songs from this album she reached my Top 10. "Starlight" only had been in this part of the chart for seven weeks, but the longactivity - 24 weeks isn't normal on my chart for a song which didn't peaked at #1 - helped this song to get her 2nd best ranking in this countdown with "Shake it off" ranked higher.

Anouk - Places to go

Points: 1502.8
Peak: #1 (2)
Weeks: 14 (still charting)
Album: Paradise and back again

Finally this is the first of three appearances by my favourite artist Anouk. She had done remarkable this year: three Top 10 debuts is a new record. "Places to go" had been her third Top 10 debut this year and debuted straight in the Top 3. In October/November it topped the chart for two weeks and stayed in the Top 10 for 13 weeks. Because of the fact that this song only charted for 14 weeks (at the moment) it is ranked lower than her two super hits this year. From now on only #1's can be found in this review.

Taylor Swift - Shake it off

Points: 1579.6
Peak: #1 (1)
Weeks: 17 (still charting)
Album: 1989

First I expected something else by her. Maybe something similar like "I knew you were trouble" or so. In the end it's another strong leading single with a theme we all now by here. In this ranking it is her highest ranked song. Unfortunately she wasn't able to reach the year-end Top 10 which she did last year.
14 #71
Emma - La mia città

Points: 1823.7
Peak: #1 (1)
Weeks: 24 (still charting)
Album: Schiena

It is incredible that "La mia città" the Italian song for the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest not even found its way into the official Italian chart. Up to this fact I'm more impressed that this song made it to chart of my home country even it peaked at #71. On my chart this song did way better. Eleven weeks in the Top 10 were crowned with one at the top.
13 #74
Juli - Insel

Points: 1839,4
Peak: #1
Weeks: 20 (still charting)
Album: Insel

What is it with the bands fourth albums? First the fourth album by Wir Sind Helden flopped, than Silbermond's fourth album flopped too. And now Juli did the same with their fourth album. Even though I think that the leading single "Insel" is very good. "Insel" debuted in the Top 5, peaked at #1 and stayed in the Top 10 for 15 weeks. But nothing helped that this fourth album didn't worked for me (and most of German speaking people because the album had been a major flop).

Jukebox The Ghost - The great unknown

Points: 1887.6
Peak: #1 (2)
Weeks: 22 (still charting)
Album: The truth about love

Over the last years this US Indie pop band had some hits for me. "Somebody" had been their biggest in 2013 which ended at #74 in the year-end of 2013. As they released their first single "The great unknown" from their 4th album I absolutely knew that this song will end topping my chart. Five weeks after the debut "The great unknown" topped the chart and stayed for 12 weeks in the Top 10.

Tagträumer - Mein Herz (für immer)

Points: 1967.6
Peak: #1 (1)
Weeks: 25 (still charting)
Album: -

It almost had worked out the a newcomer band had two year-end Top 10 hits. And this band could have been from Austria!  It had been very close, because only 13.8 points more and this song would have entered the Top 10. "Mein Herz (für immer)" ("My heart (for always)") is the bands third single after the breakthrough early in 2014. This song chrashed into my Top 10 and had almost the same start like the previous mentioned "The great unknown". "Mein Herz (für immer)" is a great song, but at the end of the day I would go with "Sinn".
