Week 256 – January 23rd, 2016

Basically this has been a very boring week when I look over my chart. The Top 10 only sees one (!) position change and a new entry and speaking of new entries there are seven this week and five of these debuts are by Anouk. But let’s start with the Top songs of the week. Leslie Clio’s “Damage done” (#1) is shining bright from the top spot for a third consecutive week. Once more she is stopping Tagtraeumer for returning to #1 with “Nichts” (#2, “Nothing”). And again at #3 is “New romantics” by Taylor Swift. While the whole Top 3 remained the same the other songs in my Top 5 are also holding their spots. So you can find “Hello” by Adele and “Vergiss mein nicht” (“Forget-me-not”) by Solarkreis once more at #4 and #5.

It goes on in the same direction. Last week French singer Sindy dropped out of my Top 5. This week she is holding her position with “Je m’en fous” (#6, “I don’t care”). Finally here is the first change in my Top 10. Two spots up for German band 48 Stunden with their first Top 10 hit “Septembermorgen” (#7, “September morning”). They switched place with another German singer. Alex Diehl’s song about piece “Nur ein Lied” (#9, “Just a song”) dropped two spots. Caught between these position movers is Madeline Juno with “Vertigo” (#8). Now I can present you the only new song in my Top 10. It is by Aubrey Peeples who had a Top 10 hit before out of the TV series “Nashville” with “Gonna get even”. This time she returns with her 2nd song from this show “Tell me” (#12) which climbed up two spots.

At the moment I’ve the feeling that my chart is getting a little bit older than in the past days. So there are only three songs in my Top 10 which haven’t reached the 10 week mark, but there is some change in sight. Outside the Top 10 several songs are trying to enter this part and it is possible that there is some change next week. Favourite for a entry in next week’s Top 10 is US-singer Sara Hartman with her debut single. “Monster lead me home” (#11), a song she wrote after moving to Berlin, climbed up two spots and is knocking heavily at the door to the top part of my chart. Then there is Anouk. With “Last goodbye” (#12) she climbed up and it would be a wonder if she doesn’t enter the Top 10 with this song. Also in a good position is another star from the TV series “Nashville”. For the first time Clare Bowen could to the last step with her beautiful and emotional song “Black roses” (#14) which rose four spots.

But there are some more songs which aren’t so long on my chart that a Top 10 spot is absolutely possible. Alternative band Transviolet are such an example. Their hymn “New bohemia” (#15) has everything to be a hit, but it is interesting to see that they aren’t getting any attention with this song at the moment which is sad. From Germany the DJ duo Max + Johan are celebrating the sound of today with their song “Wenn du schläfst” (#18, “If you sleep”). This is such a beautiful song, but as “New bohemia” the attention level of this song isn’t high. Next in line is French singer Louane. With “Avenir” she has a big hit around Europe at the moment, but with “Nos secrets” (#19) she is flying under the radar. I don’t see this song as a big hit for her, but on my chart it works well and it could be her first hit in my Top 10. Two more songs are on the list for a potential Top 10 entry in the next weeks. First to mention is Tove Lo with “Moments” (#20) and then there is Selena Gomez with “Hands to myself” (#21).

So much for the potential Top 10 entries. Let’s go to this week’s highest new entries. This week the highest debut is by Anouk. Her latest album “Queen for a day” is ready for release in the next months and the first promotional single “Dirty girl” (#43) is out. “Dirty girl” got a solid debut, but I think she had better songs in the past, so that I don’t see this song be a #1 on my chart. Though I could change my mind in the next weeks and we will see. After promoting her new album I’ve to speed up the level of charting songs from her “Paradise and back again” album. Some weeks ago I debuted the mentioned “Last goodbye” and “Looking for love” (#25). Four more songs I’ve not charted from this album so I decided to give them a debut in this week’s edition. Which brings Anouk up to five debuts. The highest debuting album cut from “Paradise and back again” is “Some of us” (#59) which is a possible Top 20 or more hit. Her other debuts “Breathe” (#68), “Smile & shine” (#69) and “Wish he could see it all” (#70) haven’t done so good for me so I don’t see them in higher regions of my chart, but how knows. Other debuts are Anna Rossinelli’s alternative “Bang bang bang” (#50) and Aubrey Peeples’ “It all slows down” (#60).
