The Kin – Weekend

Points: 972.0
Peak: #9
Weeks: 17
Album: Songs of summer

During summer Amazon released a playlist called “Songs for summer”. Out of this playlist three songs made into my Top 10. “Weekend” is the first of these three songs in this countdown. This song is in their program since years and in 2016 they decided to release it. By the end of July they peaked for a single week within my Top 10 with this catchy song.

Kungs vs. Cookin’ on 3 Burners – This girl

Points: 972.4
Peak: #17
Weeks: 21
Album: Layers

Tropical house is a big thing in these days. And among these songs “This girl” is outstanding. Back in 2009 Australian band Cookin’ on 3 Burners released “This girl” as their single, but none payed attention. After its release in February “This girl” got a big hit in France and elsewhere in Europe. On my chart this song debuted in July and peaked at #17 in September.

Grace – Hell of a girl

Points: 979.1
Peak: #7
Weeks: 16
Album: FMA

Back in 2015 she started her carrier with “You don’t own me” a cover of a Leslie Gore song. Since this hit she failed to enter the charts. “You don’t own me” failed to reach my chart, but in May her latest single “Hell of a girl” debuted. I appreciate this song with its retro sound and so “Hell of a girl” reached my Top 10 where it peaked at #7.

Anouk – Looking for love

Points: 993.8
Peak: #10
Weeks: 19
Album: Paradise and back again

For the 2nd time in this countdown a song from Anouk of her “Paradise and back again” album can be found. This time it is “Looking for love”. It started its chart run in December 2015 and peaked at #10 back in March.

MisterWives – Coffins

Points: 994.4
Peak: #11
Weeks: 19
Album: Our own house

With “Box around the sun” they missed the year-end Top 100 by one spot or 1.6 points. “Coffins” is a sad song, but I really enjoyed to listen to this song during this year. “Coffins” peaked at #11 for two weeks and is now the 2nd highest song by them in this countdown.

Adele – Love in the dark

Points: 1006.5
Peak: #7
Weeks: 16 (still charting)
Album: 25

For the 2nd time a song by Adele can be found in this list. “Love in the dark” is classic breakup song and wasn’t released as a regular single until now. It started its chart run in September and a month later it reached its peak within the Top 10. Unfortunately for a bunch of songs Anouk prevented them to peak better. Nevertheless I love this song by Adele, but on the other hand its only her 4th highest entry in this countdown.

Emma – Io di te non ho paura

Points: 1025.5
Peak: #9
Weeks: 19
Album: Adesso

Early in 2015 a song by Italian star Emma Marrone got its debut. “Io di te non hop aura” (“I’m not afraid of you”) reached its peaked two days before I celebrated my 36th birthday. This song stayed in the Top 10 for three weeks and is one of her better songs from her “Adesso” album.

Kelly Clarkson – Let your tears fallPoints: 1031.1
Peak: #6
Weeks: 18
Album: Peace by peace

Here is the next song by another core artist. Over the years Kelly Clarkson had 16 Top 10 hits on my chart. Only one artist (Anouk) did better since 2011. “Let your tears fall” is the 2nd highest song by her in this ranking. This song peaked at #7 in May, but unfortunately it wasn’t released as a regular single.

Selena Gomez – Me & the rhythm

Points: 1031.7
Peak: #7
Weeks: 19
Album: Revival

Back in October 2015 “Me & the rhythm was released as a promotional single for her “Revival” album. In April 2016 I began to chart this dance song. It was definitely in the shadow of another song of this album (which can be found in the next part of this countdown show), but it peaked at #7 which is not bad either.

Cam – Untamed

Points: 1034.8
Peak: #19
Weeks: 10
Album: Untamed

Two country albums are representing this scene on my chart in 2016. One is “Storyteller” by Carrie Underwood. The other one is by a new star. “Untamed” is the title track of Cam’s album. In reflection this song had a bad start on my chart where it debuted at #80. One and a half month later this song was found in my Top 10. Such things doesn’t happen very often, but as I like this album it was no big surprise that this song could do well.
